Hey everyone!!  Here it is - my reaction to the ep 12 of RWBY ICE QUEENDOM!!!!  OMG guys, it was so fun to see their homage to the food fight!!!  Not to mention all other kinds of great highlights of this iconic ep that they kept in, like the Yang joke!   I loved Ruby and Weiss writing their letters and watching our crew get to just hang out and be kids for a while.  It's so much sadder to see them being young and innocent now, knowing what's coming.  I loved this series, it was fun and creative and such a sweet morsel to snack on while we wait for Vol. 9!!!  Great ep!  Enjoy!  ~ MH

This timeline definitely veered off of the original show. With that in mind I am going to believe that in this timeline that nothing bad will ever happen......EVER!

Hi Hime :) The best way to end the show, with an element of season 2 which makes it clear to us that it was only an additional adventure (all leaving doubt about a possible sequel). But in any case, even though the series was centered on Weiss, it did not forget its other characters and the whole RWBY team was able to shine and interact with each other. Sometimes even showing other facets of the characters not necessarily exploited enough in the beginning of the original series. And then we're not going to lie, but for lovers of Whiterose and Bumblebee, it was a festival that filled our hearts with joy. Besides, with the fanart of Ein Lee (who is the chara designer of the original show), I realize that Ruby is like Zwei. And with this realization, her relationship with Weiss takes on more meaning, after all, Weiss seemed to not accept Zwei until she was completely in adoration for him. The same goes for her golden retriever girlfriend Ruby lol. Anyway, I enjoyed the series, it was a very fun side trip, if season 2 there is why not, if it's just this unique adventure, that's fine with me too.

Hi Spadeas! :) Yes! I agree. I love that we did get some focus on others too. Very true that we really were able to explore in a way that is not always possible. Oh yeah, they know their audience lol, they were dropping the ship hints pretty heavily! Oh no kidding, I didn't even put that together about the character designs! Ohhhhh wow, she is like Zwei!!! Hahaha yup, total golden retriever for sure!!! I'm glad you had fun with it, I agree!!! No matter where it goes from here, or if it doesn't at all, it was a great ride!

First thing I have to say before I go any further is that RWBY is an anime in itself; considering how the two are made, I do not believe they should be considered different. The only thing that changes is the original language. Oh! Before I get into breaking down all this, I am curious what you thought of the Japanese cast, how’d you like them? Granted, we have a soft spot for the OGs, but that isn’t their fault. It was fun to hear them perform for once. Regarding the episode itself: Never challenge Yang to video games, unless your name is Qrow. Also, Blake reading that book in front of everyone? This is Filth… FILTH!!!! Shion’s Semblance is the ability to connect oriole’s hearts? Well, that explains a little… but really, their explanation about having a Semblance evolve is incredibly vague here considering how we saw them utilizing it. Since they are a non canon character, I doubt we’re going to see them again. Speaking of: I’ll first analyze the conversations and then explain why they don’t fit. First, Ozpin’s conversation with Ruby. Obviously Ruby’s not picking up on what Ozpin is putting down about her silver eyes and thinks he’s just talking about her friendships. But we know Ozpin knows about the silver eyes power, and that could be one reason why he made her Team Leader and pushed her up two years. I think he might’ve been fishing here, and if Ruby had actually noticed something, he might’ve been ready to train her himself. But having that power, it may need to be awakened by the individual before they understand how it can be properly channeled. If you just told Ruby she could shoot laser beams from her eyeballs without her ever doing it, it probably wouldn’t be as effective. Blake’s conversation is more or less the same. Quick sidebar: does anyone think of a conversation between Harry Potter and Dumbledore when watching Ozpin say “is there anything else you wish to tell me?” The tone is indeed more ominous. But, um… Ozpin says he’ll use his power against any who disturb the peace. … … What’s Team RWBY been doing all this time? 🤣🤣🤣 The biggest focal point of the series of course, is Weiss and Blake, and I think this side series does a good job of flushing out something that the original show glossed over. That’s how they started to come to terms with each other. This is gonna sound like a pun, but not everything is in black and white, and I think both of them started to get that. Okay, now why none of this fits in canon is because a very specific line in the original show, and it involves the Ozpin/Blake conversation: he asks her specifically what she was doing at the docks TONIGHT. Implying that the conversation took place immediately after the events of Volume 1. Here, it takes place much later, after several more days have passed. The timelines simply can’t match up. Weiss telling Sun not to say anything about Blake seems a little off for her character, especially since I’m quite sure Blake would be just fine telling him herself. He’s more likely to listen to her anyway. Nora and Ren are helping Jaune train? It looks like they’re just bored while Pyrrha’s doing all the work. A bored Nora is not only sad… it’s also dangerous! Is it just me or does Yang in particular like to goad Weiss in this series? Seems like a lot of friction between the two, even if Yang’s doing it in jest. After all it is a “slice of Weiss” anime. /ducks I don’t think the food fight lives up quite to the original one, it’s still fun, but parts of it felt a little clunky. That’s because Monty was special, and everyone knew it. Speaking of Monty, I believe he was around when the idea for this was initially broached. CRWBY visited Japan during Volume 2, and the idea was hatched then. It only just now came to fruition. I remember reading that somewhere. The dialogue at the end of the food fight is the same as the dialogue between Salem and Ozpin at the beginning of the first episode. “Right now they’re still children. So why not let them play the part? After all… it isn’t a world they’ll have forever.” - Ozpin, after the food fight in the original show. We were warned… So like I said, this puts a bow on the world’s WEIRDEST slumber party ever. Weiss is never going to another sleepover as long as she lives! The English Dub episodes, as I’ve mentioned, start coming out next Sunday and will do so each week. I am looking forward to seeing how our original actors dub the dubbers that dub their lines. Try and keep up with all the dubbing. 😅 This does lead me to believe that they’ll announce Volume 9’s actual release date around the time the dubs finish on Dec. 11. At least there’s content in the meantime. Finally, I wanted to drop this since you might want to think about it: RTX Austin next year is scheduled for July 7-9 (6, if you count FIRST Night). I imagine it might be the last big RWBY revealer before the show ends, so if you’re thinking about attending one, this might be the one to get to. You know you gotta go at least once before RWBY ends. 😎 We now return to our regularly scheduled hiatus…

Based on this reaction I'm seriously considering going back and watching your RWBY reactions again from the trailers onward. I became a patron specifically to follow your RWBY journey and this seems like the best time to relive those memories. Gotta get myself ready for Volume 9 though I fully intend to rewatch this series with the English dub starting next week too so yay RWBY content!

That's a good point about RWBY being an anime! Oh I thought the cast was great! Of course the OGs will always be, well, the OGs to me haha. But I thought they did a great job! Hahahaha Yang with her games and Blake with her books! Too bad, I'd love to see Shion again! Yeah RWBY did not understand that assignment but it's all good. Yeah that's a good point that a lot of RWBY's power lies in her own ability to recognize/understand/use it. The Blake conversation was a bit more intense! I could see some Dumbledore vibes there for sure haha. LOL good point about disturbing the peace here. Yes I agree it's nice to flesh them out! Hahaha no one wants a bored Nora on the loose! But yeah, I can see how some of this is very different from canon, and honestly I just saw it as this whole series veering off from canon from the start. I will always love the original food fight the best, it's a hard one to live up to!!! And this one was also a bit shorter, they probably didn't want to redo the entire thing. Oh wow, so cool that Monty was aware of the anime adaptation idea! I noticed that about the dialogue too. Hahaha for sure the weirdest slumber party EVER! I can't wait for the dub - I probably won't react to it but it will be awesome to see. Oooh that would be great if we got the release date when the dub wraps up! I would LOVE to go to RTX!!!! Honestly not sure if I can make that happen but wow, it would be amazing. Also for this year in particular, before RWBY is over (sniff!!!). Back to the hiatus!!!

As they're both "heiresses", I think they have what it takes to really understand each other, and form a strong bond over their struggle & others' expectations. And the sisterly bond with Ruby and Yang is more exposed early on, can't say no to that ^^ I really liked watching the next step of your RWBY journey, gonna wait for your volume 09 reaction and I wanted to know: what will you do about the dub? Watch on your own? A little debreif after you finish it? Maybe not another reaction...Whatever the case, I'll still be there for a while ;) Thanks :)

Hi Nathan! I agree, it was so nice to flesh that out even more. There's so much fodder there for exploration so I'm glad that took that opportunity! I'm honestly not sure about the dub, but I'm leaning towards watching it on my own only because I don't feel I'd bring anything different to my reactions than what you've already seen, you know?
