Hey everyone!  Here I am with Red vs. Blue, season 9, eps 1- 4!  WOOOWWW!!!
So being inside the memories was interesting enough, but the way they keep cutting back and forth to flashbacks of the Freelancers in their hay day....WOW!
Was not expecting that, but dang, what a treat!  Not only do we get some more details and background on the project and the agents, but the animation/music is ON FIRE!!!  Gotta say I also really love the jumbled up nature of the memories and Church trying to sort through even more nonsense than usual haha.  I legit don't know where this is going, but I'm down!!!  Great eps!  Enjoy!  ~ MH

Every time the Director is questioned (or criminally charged) his explanations hinge on the absolute necessity of the actions he took. It's in season 6 over and over. And his ship is named Mother of Invention. I love the little details like that.

Welcome to project Freelancer! So many new faces(literally) to see. If you thought the animation in these episodes was great just wait. Also welcome back-ish to Blood Gulch. Things are not quite as we remember, though a little more aggressive Donut is a more or less how we remember. Theres no way youll be able to guess whats coming this season and I am here for all the surprised Pikachu faces.

Welcome to the Project Freelancer Arc! I really loved this batch. So much to chew on with the back and forth between the Memory Unit and the Freelancer sides. You were right when you mentioned that the reason that the memories are so jumbled up because his memories are the stories that Caboose told him. But because he met them he knows they're wrong and can hopefully fix them. In terms of Timeline, according to the Ultimate Red vs Blue Fan Guide and various other events in the series, the Freelancer flashbacks that we saw take place in 2548. Blood Gulch Season 1-5, takes place from 2552-2553. After which the Great War ends. Season 6 and the Recollection Trilogy starts in 2554 and Season 8 ends in 2555. And now we're in 2556 in Season 9. The Freelancer Ship, "Mother of Invention", is in reference to the famous English Proverb originally said by Plato, "Our need will be the real creator", which was over time moulded to, "Necessity is the mother of invention." It says alot about Leonard Church, him being a Doctor and a Scientist and what he values. It was so cool seeing South again and North for the first time, as he was dead by the time we saw him in Recovery One. And we got to see him use the Bubble Shield to defend against those missles. You were right about Carolina sounding familiar. She's voiced by Jen Brown, who would later voice Pyrrha Nikos in RWBY. That song at the end was Casey. She was 11 at the time, 11 years ago, man time flies lol The leitmotif and the lyrics at the end are essentially Carolina's Theme. It's called Extraction in the Season 9 Soundtrack. The Lyrics are Latin. They translate to, "Death to our enemies. Death to our enemies. Your war is lost. You cannot destroy us. Like lightning from heaven. Enter the warrior. Sacrifice. The fight is over. Warrior wounded." I really enjoyed your reaction and really look forward to the next batch of episodes.

Fun fact about the twins, in Season 6 Episode 8 this is a snippet of a conversation that tells us that their relationship does not end happily. Church- "I can't believe she killed her own brother." Delta- "She put him in a position to be killed. South rarely worked in a direct fashion." Church- "What a bitch." So South Dakota sacrificed her own brother's life and his AI for her own life in the Recovery One mini series. And if I were you I'd go back rewatch that Episode, because Delta sheds light on a lot of things that you can expect from the PFL flashbacks.

Agent Carolina. What a badass, you should recognise the voice but I’m not gonna tell you. 😂 The mugs did in fact say Charon This arc is a whole different ride. I love that the episode is called twins and later you’re like. Are they related? 😂 Who else will we meet this season who knows?

Okay now that this arc has officially kicked off I can tell you it is referred to as the “Project Freelancer” Arc. It’s probably best to view this particular season as two separate seasons that just happen to be sharing a space. First, let’s start with Church and the regular (?) Red vs Blue shenanigans. As you can see… TUCKER SHUT UP I’M TALKING! … Not much has really changed. At least with the Blues. The Reds, on the other hand… It’s important to remember that this is occurring inside the Memory Unit and this is Epsilon-Church. So what’s going on? It’s like you surmised. Epsilon got most of his retained memories from all the stories Caboose told him. So it makes sense that Caboose would be far more accurate describing the Blues than the Reds… over there, almost everything is out of order. But it has been mentioned before that Caboose doesn’t pay too much attention to the Reds (remember Sarge the Pirate with a Southern accent?). Simmons is pretty much himself, but Sarge isn’t hostile enough, Donut’s a jerk (although to be fair, he always has had innuendo in his dialogue… this time it’s just more… I’m sorry I had to do it… HARDCORE 🤣), and Grif is… CLEANING!? Yeah, this ain’t right. So basically Church is trying to set everything back up to find Tex. It is unclear how far in the past the Project Freelancer storyline is, but it’s definitely not recent. Also, you’ll notice it’s all animation. This is when Monty started really putting his stamp on Rooster Teeth. Season 8 was just the opening act. A couple interesting notes here. It said that at the start of the mission, HQ was “initiating beta protocol.” That’s a big clue to something you’ve been trying to piece together for a while, but I’ll let you stew on it. Just think about the verbiage being used. 😄 South is a very impatient Freelancer and doesn’t even bother to set her trackers to help her own brother cover her. She’s only out for her own gain. So, given what we know about her, this pretty much makes sense. Agent Carolina is new. She’s teal, she is at the top of the HQ’s leaderboard, whatever it is, and she doesn’t take prisoners. Also, you should definitely recognize that voice. I was wondering if you’d put it together though. I don’t want to wait for someone else to drop the bomb, so I’ll tell you since you did pick up and ask if you knew her. She played a pretty dominant redhead who was also a more than capable fighter in the other RT show. The one who nobody can spell her name right, even now. Yup, that’s Jen, aka Pyrrha. The coffee mug you were asking about at the Arctic Base has the label Charon Industries. (Pronounced with a hard Ch, like a K). That’s actually a good detail catch by you, we are training you to notice things better I see! It should be noted the opposing soldier commander didn’t die when the bridge collapsed, he fell on a side platform just below screen. You have to be looking for it, but you can actually see this happen if you don’t blink at the wrong moment. Yep, there are faces under the helmets now. North used his special ability on top of the ship to avoid missile damage. Remember his ability was the shield that we saw being used by South and the Meta in Season 6. But he activated this without a helmet equipped, which is incredibly risky. I know you will ask: so RT has said that at this point the main cast has been built up so much in the fan base’s minds that they are not going to ever reveal those faces. You can use your imagination. The name of the Freelancer’s ship is the Mother of Invention. It is a play on the term “necessity is the mother of invention,” which makes total sense given what we know about the Director’s motives and ideals. Just to be clear: the Memory Unit events are about putting memories back together correctly. The Freelancer scenes are playing out as they actually happened. Memory is STILL the Key. 🔑 Also, you’re not prepared. :)

Quickly, forgot to add: Carolina was mentioned in passing in 1 or 2 times in the early seasons of RvB. But this is the first time she’s actually been on screen.

Manny

Um woah getting some comedy and some very heavy serious action. This is gonna be an impactful volume throughout I can tell already 😵‍💫😵😲

kamenriderhime

Ahhh sorry you weren't awake when I posted it! Hahaha the faces are freaking me out!!! I can't wait to see even more greatness!!! Also I can already tell I'm in way over my head when it comes to trying to predict what's coming...!!!

kamenriderhime

YAY!! Oh yay, glad I guessed why the memories were a bit, erm, incorrect haha. Ohhhh that's so cool about the ship name and how it ties into what Director Church is always saying. Thanks for clearing up the timeline too! Yeah getting to see North in action was great! AHHHHH no way, Pyrrha?!?!?! I knew that voice was familiar! Whoa, those lyrics are heavy!!! And OMG I knew it must be Casey! Her sweet little angel voice, omg!!!! I'm so happy you enjoyed my reaction!!!!

kamenriderhime

Yeah I remember them saying that she more or less killed her brother, sick. I think I might go back and watch that ep, you're right!!! So much has happened since then, I want to be able to pick up on as many little details as I can!

kamenriderhime

Hahaha I just saw in the other comments that it's Pyrrha, omg!!! LOL yeah I was kinda wondering if that was her brother....but the captions were sneaky and didn't tell me till the story did :P I can't wait to see what's coming next!

kamenriderhime

Yeah good call on this basically being two separate things packed into the same eps. Hahah yeah the Blues are more or less on point but the Reds...!! LOL I had forgotten pirate Sarge!!! Good call, he would know the Reds way less. Yeah Simmons is close enough, the others though....!!! LOL the innuendos, and Grif cleaning...what is happening!!! Ohhh I honestly couldn't tell if it was all animation or not, they blended so much of it together last time. So cool! OHHHHH beta protocol....let's see....Church is the Alpha sooooo....what could beta mean?! Could this have to do with the byproduct thing??? :O Yeah this all fits with what we know of South. Ahhhh someone else mentioned Pyrrha's VA too!!!!!!! I knew I knew that voice!!! Oh yay, I'm so happy I'm picking up important details! Thanks for the clarification about the mug, all I could see was "haron" so my mind went to Sharon lol. Oh thanks about the soldier commander, I did not notice actually! The faces are so FREAKY to see hahahah!! I'm kinda glad they'll never show our crew though. Gotta leave something to the imagination. That's so cool about the play on words / deeper meaning to the ship name. Memory never stopped being the key!!!!! Good to know about the Freelancer memories, so those are totally in tact. It's the RvB stuff that got a bit jumbled haha. Oh I just know I'm not prepared!! Also thanks about Carolina, I knew it sounded familiar but I felt like we hadn't actually seen her before.

2022-12-31 00:42:12 I love this reaction a lot especially because I love this season. What a great set of episodes to start off on am I right? I really love what you said about how no matter how much the show changes it will always have the same heart that was very wholesome. I’m so glad this show is hard to predict because it makes the plot and its twists and turns all the more exciting for you. I absolutely adore how hilarious the monologue being interrupted all the time but I like that this is Church accepting all the things he has been created from. It’s very interesting/cool to be kind of back to the status quo inside the memory unit. He definitely still cares a lot about his friends but it’s fun to see Church being himself. The best thing about this episode was Caboose’s “plan” for friendship it’s cute, ridiculous and so funny. The look on your face when you realized you would be getting project Freelancer stuff in the past was so relatable. It’s definitely interesting and awesome. Even though Church is very different and has realized different things than the Director I like that order is something that is still a similarity between them. Actually I’m used to it now but it is weird to see characters without armor on a first watch. I love seeing project freelancer in the past because these agents are really awesome and we can understand more about them. We can already see flaws South has and it ended up making the mission harder. Yeah I love their teamwork but I am glad you realize it’s weird with what happens with South later. What can you say about the action when it speaks for itself? Well it is awesome and the choreography is almost perfection. Monty was such a good person and talented for these action scenes I will always miss him. Next there is just more awesome action but I can’t forget to mention the beautiful and haunting vocals and I’m not sure who was doing them. I absolutely love the appearance of Carolina here so much bad ass moves/voice acting. Church really did not think things through when approaching the reds LOL. Just a lot of great comedy not much to say except the comedic timing on the gunshot was incredible. Just seeing all the mixed up personalities is so fun especially Grif LOL. I like that Church shows caring when he’s trying to convince them. This airship chase is one of the best and my favorite I have ever seen. It can be jarring going from the memory unit to project Freelancer LOL. And now you know that this is Carolina I swear the name has been mentioned in passing before. Also I am sure everyone has told you this but this is Pyrrha’s voice actor Jen Brown I bet you love that. I love 479er to bits her snarky personality is the best. And it looks like South has always been a piece of work. I love how much of a big brother North is here and his moment with the bubble shield is so cool. I still can’t get over how appropriate the mother of invention name is and it’s an awesome looking space station. I can’t believe I almost forgot to say poor Murphy (the first soldier South took out) he seemed pretty chill. It’s probably a good idea to not predict too much with this and the next season LOL. I’m glad you are so excited for this even if it’s a wild ride. Awesome reaction & keep up the great work. :-) <3

Such an amazing start, I love the (attempted) monologue! Oh I'm glad my face was expressive there hehe!! And yes it's nice to see Church just kinda being Church again. I love getting to know the freelancers better and I'm glad to hear you get used to the faces after a while! And yes there are some similarities between Church and the Director. I know right, the action is outstanding! Monty was amazing! And the vocals were so well done too. Carolina too! Hahha no he did not think that one through apparently! If he didn't think shots would randomly be fired then he was for sure giving them too much credit. Comedic gold for sure! Oh I know the back and forth between the memory unit and freelancer stuff feels like two totally different toned shows! YES I can't believe I didn't know that was Pyrrha!!! I knew it sounded familiar though. Yeah it all makes sense with South now. The name is genius! Oh yeah I think my ability to predict is way overshadowed by this show's wild nature! Poor Murphy lol. I'm so happy you enjoyed my reaction, thanks for being awesome and for all the support!!!!!!!

Cody

Let’s go! This is what I’ve been excited for since you started, the Freelancer flashbacks are just amazing!
