Hey everyone!  Here I am with Red vs. Blue, season 8, eps 18 - 20!  WHOAAAA!!!
You guys, I don't even know where to begin with this batch!  The fight scenes, the music, the revelation about Tex, the amazing speech, the heroics, the epic entrances, the twists and turns, almost losing Grif, and.......that sad but moving ending for Church!!!!  I hope it's not really the end!!!  But wow, since when did this show hit me in the feels as well as tickling my funny bone?!  This drama snuck up on me!!  Also glad we made peace with Wash and that he's free!  It's too bad Donut had to die though, really hoping he comes back one day too!  Great eps and great season!  See you in the OST reaction!  Enjoy!  ~ MH

Zen Reacts

And now you know the tragedy of Tex. She is for all intents and purposes another fragment of Alpha. Doomed to forever be unable to achieve her goals. Church's ending monologue always get me to tear up. He's willing to relive everything he knows about Blood Gulch to wait for Tex to show up again. I cannot believe were already gonna be on season 9, there is so much next season youre not even ready for. Cant wait!

Supermonaman

About to watch. Cannot wait to leave my long comment about this.

Zen Reacts

And bonus now you can continue loving Wash like everyone else

kamenriderhime

Oof!!! It's sad! The monologue was SO good! It feels like he'd do anything for her. Omg, I'm dying to see more! YAY got my honey back hahaha!

I always look forward to Tuesdays every week for your reactions to RvB. Season 8 probably made me tear up more than any of the others (but there are a few later on, won't tell you which, that also compete for that position). I so look forward to your reactions to season 9 and onwards. To me, it just gets better from here.

So you are basically correct in your assumptions. Here is what we know. The director was charged by the UNSC with creating an AI, "Alpha" using his brain in the process. The goal being that in training all the Freelancers. Equipping them with armor enhancements. He would have Alpha gifted to the one chosen to be the super soldier. The one to win the war against the aliens for humanity. That is what the projects original goal was. He trained the freelancers, trying to find the candidate who was worth of inheriting Alpha and save everyone. However when creating Alpha. Tex was made. (RT has confirmed that Tex is referred to as the Beta AI.) The director didn't make her on purpose. Then after Tex was made things changed in the program. Leading to what we see now.

I find it so endearing that Epsilon made copies of the Reds and Blues and Blood Gulch. And of course it doesn't look exactly correct, he wasn't ever in Blood Gulch. He is only using what Caboose has told him and his own experience with the guys to make this little recreation. And it's so sweet hearing him say he will wait for Tex to find him. And that even if she doesn't, he will have fun in a "good memory". I love Epsilon Church. ❤ So alot of people get confused about him recreating Blood Gulch out of memories but I think the easiest was to see it is. The Memory Unit has the technology inside it for Epsilon to make everything there. Now the DID reference is even stronger you could say Epsilon has made his innerworld to chill out in. But we will see where that goes from here. Still plenty of memories for Epsilon to remember. Still plenty of plot to be uncovered.

Season 8 is the one where they got the mix of action, comedy and story the most perfect of any season they've done. And I think the last two episodes really show that off. It's also the season that most naturally feels like a movie when you watch it on DVD. I really have trouble putting into words just how fantastic I think this season is. And I don't think I understood at the time how much it was emotionally affecting me, because I was still thinking of RvB as an irreverent internet comedy at the time. But now, looking back, this era of RvB, the 6-10 season range, is one of my favorite dramatic stories.

Sarge's speech and the closing fights is one of my favorite moments in this series. Bringing back the "Do you ever wonder why we're here?" They're here because they don't fit in anywhere else. They're a family now. RT sure is great at multicolored characters and found family lol We'll eventually get more information about Tex and the specifics of her creation eventually, but you pretty much have the gist of it. I think you can put 2 and 2 together and see that Allison died in the Great War. And that's all that the Director remembered of her and how he wishes he could save her. "The thought of her has haunted me my entire life." This is probably the best season because of how focused it is on the Reds and Blues specifically. Along with the animation, comedy, writing, and music. It was firing on all cylinders. In terms of the music, the vocals for the song in the last 2 episodes, Ice Fight were all Jeff Williams. In the original upload of the last episode in RT's site, there were credits with the song, Red vs Blue, which use the same score as Ice Fight and has more lyrics. Although I'd keep an ear out for Casey in the future. Man, I love this series lol

This season still holds up as one of the best ones. For some trivia, this was a potential "ending" of RvB, but they decided to keep it going for seasons 9 and 10. The videos that you watch are reuploaded versions of the originals. Season 8 originally aired in 2010. The original final episode of this season had awesome ending credits music. Kinda wish we coulda jammed to that one lol

This concludes the second arc of Red vs Blue, more commonly known as the “Recollection Trilogy.” Season 9 will be starting a new plot thread, one I’m sure you’ll find very interesting. As for this particular batch: most of it does speak for itself. The Sarge speech proves just how much of a slow burn the show can have, as it literally reuses the first two lines of dialogue in the series almost verbatim, but it has such a greater context to it now. Wash might want to think of getting into a different line of work if Doc can see Tex’s ambush before he can… he’s not gonna live that one down anytime soon. 😅 It should be noted that this was airing in 2010 so obviously RWBY wasn’t going to even be a thing yet. I believe if my math is right, Casey herself would be super young, around the age of ten. There does seem to be a bit of confusion: while Tex is technically a byproduct of creating Alpha, the Director insisted she wasn’t one in his journal. It makes sense after you get the scoop from Wash about Allison: she’s much more. So basically the Director loved her, and then he lost her - and that failure is reflected in the shadow of her we know as Tex. Her failure to survive became the blueprint for Tex failing. Think about it: ever since we’ve known Tex, whenever she tries to do something to further her own ends, it ends up going horribly wrong for her, even if she’s helping our crew or fighting them. This even happened in Season 1 when she ended up getting captured by the Reds in one scenario and then killed by Donut’s grenade. This song and dance has been repeating for a long time. Caboose didn’t get his peanuts? What kinda reaction airline is this? Oh wait, Anya’s on the plane now, never mind. I know where the peanuts went… 👀 So the Meta was able to use Tex’s memories after siphoning her into the unit to activate all his powers again, and that’s really all he was after. Washington was just teaming with him out of convenience and once Meta got what he wanted, the alliance wasn’t useful. Also Doc’s “second worst throw ever, of all time” is a reference to Caboose’s Season 6 grenade toss into the wall, and Doc has mentioned he ran track before back in Blood Gulch when O’Malley was hostage negotiator. Shotgun is of course the reference to Monty’s debut scene, but the “does that look like a big cat to you?” reference to the jeep they use to knock Meta to his downfall is a reference to the conversation about the jeep looking like a puma, when Sarge insisted on calling it a Warthog back in S1. Epsilon goes into the dying memory unit to find Tex but really, he’s going to have to rebuild his memories of Blood Gulch and hope it’s enough to trigger her to show up and come to him like she originally did. But since the unit is one-way he’s on his own and stuck reliving them. It’s almost like he’s trapped in a dream of his own thoughts… wait, that’s another show… Don’t you hate actual cliffhangers? :P The Reds and Blues decided to cut Washington a break. They made him wear Church’s armor, while Washington’s actual armor is around the inactive robot body of Church. So Washington is officially “dead,” and doesn’t have to be concerned about looking over his shoulder at the higher ups anymore. “Why am I getting to like Sarge all of a sudden?” The same reason you like everyone else: they’re all a bunch of idiots. And they’ll cause plenty of eye rolls - but they’re OUR idiots. Also crying, laughing, screaming, all in the same batch? It’s Rooster Teeth, you haven’t learned yet? :D

Manny

Damn. Darn it. This show is so good. And the humors so witty yet crass you don't expect for such tearjerkers 😭 Oh my goodness my vision got really blurry and I had to step away and take a moment to compose myself. That was so beautiful and I can't wait to see where things go. Just so many awesome moments I can't even decide which is my favorite. I hope Church will come back to the crew. Why is it comedy shows know where to hit you when you least expect it 🤧

kamenriderhime

Yay, so glad to hear that! Thank you Bryce! I'm glad it moved you, there were definitely some great moments this season! Thanks for the air date info! And I can't wait for more - it's hard to picture it getting even better than this!!

kamenriderhime

Oh good, thanks! I thought that's what they were getting at. Thanks for clarifying and explaining!

kamenriderhime

I know right!! Ohhhh right, he wasn't in Blood Gulch! Plus Caboose's version contributed who knows what to this new recreation haha. Epsilon Church is amazing!!!! That makes total sense about Blood Gulch actually. Ohhhhhh that's an excellent point too, about the innerworld! I'm so excited for what's next!!!!

kamenriderhime

Bringing it back to that line was so amazing! They are like a family! Glad I'm on the right track about Tex. Omg, I couldn't agree more that this season had everything going for it! Oh wow, that was Jeff on vocals! I forgot he has a super high voice when he wants to! I can't wait to hear Casey, squee!!!!!!!!!! ME TOO!!!! This series is so engrained in my heart now!!!!!!!

kamenriderhime

Oh wow, can't believe this could have been the last! I can kinda see how they wrapped a lot up though. So glad they kept it going! Thanks for the air date info! OMG the music was so good! Did I cut off the video before we heard more? Or just there could have been more of the song in general? Lately I've been getting a bit too hasty with stopping the videos so sorry if I cut off the credits!!!

kamenriderhime

RIGHT?!?!!?! How is this happening D: Wasn't it an awesome moment!!!!!!!! I hope Church comes back too! There were too many amazing moments to choose right. SERIOUSLY!!!! When comedy wants to hit you in the feels, it takes no prisoners!!!

Jacob Laflamme

Well, season 9 is fantastic. The new animations are great. They really start to flesh out the lore and introduce lots of awesome new/old characters. So be ready! :)

2022-08-26 22:25:37 What a great reaction to the final episodes. I absolutely love how this season ends. And yeah I think we just wanted you to keep the byproduct line in mind because of the revelations you were going to get in the end of this season. It’s great that you understood everything that you could up to the point of the last reaction. The only reason you could not understand everything is because the final puzzle pieces were in the final episodes. I enjoyed what you were saying about Tex at the start of the reaction. It’s basically what’s going on. I love how Tex was able to predict what Wash & Meta would do to be able to set up a Trap that would catch them. Also poor Doc it seems like being right but no one believing him is his lot in life LOL. I absolutely love Sarge & his amazing/awesome rallying speech. It’s very inspiring in such a fun way. I also love how touching in a very RvB way it is with Sarge pointing out his faults and the others strengths/good points. The way it brings things full-circle by having the speech start with why are you here. Also Caboose is just happy to be here LOL <3. The music during the entire speech is fantastic. The entire finale really shows that despite all the bickering and threats all of them are friends. Yeah the Guitar as they are getting ready is awesome. Don’t worry we all get feels from this speech it’s well done like that and I love how it keeps the shows signature humor. Also it’s not just Sarge that keeps surprising you it’s the show in general doing that. It is great that they are done with being manipulated. The first person perspective shot of Washington is so cool. And now to discuss some of the most awesome 3D animation you will ever see outside RWBY in my opinion. I love how dynamic this fight is the choreography is absolutely incredible. I love how even though they both are built like tanks Tex is absolutely dominating the Meta in terms of strength. This is also the first time we see a full demonstration of the skills and teamwork freelancers are capable of with the 3 of them. I think it’s great to see the preparation Tex put into this attack and she didn’t need to do all of it herself which makes sense since this is a secret freelancer base so of course there would be hidden weapons all over the place. The hand-to-hand combat in this is incredible but my favorite part is when Tex blows up the cliff face and how all 3 of them use it to their advantage. Also the backbreaker against the Meta from her is always super impressive. The 2nd worse throw of all time is hilarious especially since the first worst was a throw by Caboose LOL. Oh yeah even though it wasn’t a human body what the Meta did to Tex was brutal. It makes sense that Washington would expect betrayal after all he’s been through. The whole cavalry joke is one of my favorites. The way the guys come in is awesome & hilarious. It’s so great to get a clearer picture of how Tex came to be as well as the whole Allison thing. The revelation about Tex always failing right at the finish line so to speak because Allison’s death was as you say the Director’s strongest memory of her. Just to fail no matter what you do truly is tragic and messed up. I love the voice acting for the explanation. Also they really should have realized the Meta would not have been done in the easily. I love the comparison of this being like Tex’s fatal flaw. Once again it’s really great to see your hype about this show and that action scene is sure to do that. Also good question about if Tex would just continually be in a self-fulfilling prophecy. I love the final fight against the Meta. We would all be Grif in this situation when he says they are all going to die LOL. It’s so great that they all have a role to play in their victory. The best moment is definitely the face-off between Sarge & the Meta to distract him long enough to win its his most awesome moment till now. The way Sarge’s Grif hate comes back is hilarious and I like how it shows that no matter what he will always be Sarge. I like how everything concludes for this season. It’s great that Wash survived and is now in the clear since we all love him so much. It’s going to be interesting with him now being a friend with everyone. I agree Church’s monologue at the end here is so heartfelt & touching. The comparison of love to memory is such good writing. Also that final line about living in a good memory is just the best. It is nice that Church is able to let go as well as take responsibility for things unlike the Director good catch there Melissa. Closure is a good word for this ending. The show at this point is very well put together and in my opinion only gets better. I think you’ll enjoy the soundtrack. Awesome reaction & I can’t wait for more. Keep up the great work. :-) <3

You're good! The videos you're watching don't have the credits I was talking about. The reuploads on that YT channel are usually better quality than the originals, but there were edits. The original video is this one, time stamped to its credits (no spoilers or anything): https://youtu.be/ReSGtxIYZE4?t=558 Cant wait for Seasons 9 and 10. I almost wanted to recommend watching them in their full-length film versions, but I know that wouldn't jive with your channel for content/views. Those two seasons were built in full length (like RWBY) and then broken up into episodes, so sometimes you end up with odd story beats when watching them episodically if that makes sense.

kamenriderhime

I can't wait! Seriously, slow burn is the perfect word for how it's set up. Hahaha Tex managed to one up Wash a few times, not a good sign! Thanks for the timing info! Ohhhh I did miss that about the Director saying she wasn't a byproduct. That's so sad!!!! She was literally set up to fail!! HAHAHAHAHA the first thing I thought of with the peanuts was Anya!!! Gotcha, Meta got what he came for and their partnership was over. OHHH that's what the worst throw reference was to, thanks! OHHHHH good call about the cat/puma thing, I knew it sounded familiar! Oh wow, trapped in a dream sounds familiar...!!! HAHAHAHA the cliffhanger thing was gold! OMG that is SUCH a good way to put it - they're our idiots! Oh man, I really should have learned by now with RT right?!

kamenriderhime

Oh cool, thanks!! Ohhh that's interesting about splitting them up from the film-style they were meant to be seen in. Fortunately someone does the batches for me so I'm sure it will still be cut up in a cinematic way!!

kamenriderhime

Thanks, I'm so glad you mentioned that line and that I was able to understand everything!!! Thanks about my discussion of Tex, too! Hahaha poor Doc, knowing all the answers and no one taking him seriously or giving him credit!!! The speech was amazing! It was such a touching moment that absolutely snuck up on me! And Caboose is just a happy boy lol. Oh the fight was incredible, the animation was off the charts!! Oh the Meta death blow was just AWFUL but so well done!!! The Tex revelation was soooooo sad!! Glad I asked a good question about Tex. LOL we're all a little Grif right there! Oh the Sarge distraction moment was soooo good! Hahahah there's some things you can always rely on, and Sarge is one of them, especially when it comes to his hate for Grif!! The ending monologue is just amazing. Awww thanks for the good catch, yay!!! And for my choice of words. I'm so happy you liked my reaction!!! Thanks again for all the encouragement and support, and I hope you love my soundtrack reaction!!! Also sorry for taking forever to get back to you!!! Thanks again ^_^

Cody

Such a great finale batch, and just more greatness to come. Not to insult all these previous seasons, but the seasons to come are something else. Can’t wait to see your reactions!
