Hey everyone!  Here it is - my reaction to season 2, episode 13 of REBELS!!!!  Wow you guys!!!  We get a Mandalor story in this one?  Sign me UP!!!  I still don't know if I know any of the references haha but I'm leaning towards no.  Regardless, it was really cool to get a Sabine/Kanan pair-up ep, learn a little more about Kanan during the Clone Wars, and OMG GET AN INFO DROP ON SABINE!!!!!!  Whoa, it's not a lot of info but it's enough to get me going haha.  Really fun ep and in the end, mission accomplished!!!  I think we all learned something too.  And I learned I NEVER wanna see Hera hurt ever again!!!!  Great ep! Enjoy!!!  ~ MH

I managed to start going into Clone Wars finally, but I only just started it, so some of the stuff you’re feeling over I don’t have reference frames for yet. :) Regarding the episode itself, narratively, it’s an interesting idea to take Hera out of the equation for a bit as she’s kind of the “glue” that holds the rest of the crew together, and to see what kind of response they have. Speaking of that, how did Hera’s ship manage to hyperspace jump while it was that damaged? Logically that doesn’t seem possible - unless they just build them better. Chopper always gets volunteered for everything without consent, cause you know, droids can be repaired easier. I do think it’s significant that everyone immediately tried to stop Kanan from flying solo, but really? It’s a mission involving Mandalorians and you thought Sabine was going to stay on the sidelines? 👀 I think the biggest point the episode is trying to make is that both Kanan and Sabine have upside and downside to their approach - diplomacy is more preferable, but it’s not always going to work - and being aggressive will get you results, but not always what you’re hoping for long-term. I think both of them might’ve learned there are merits to finding a balance between both approaches to get the most desirable outcome. That’s the real trick: knowing when to stir things up, and when to try a more peaceful tactic. Because no war or crusade is ever fought in simple black and white.

That planet half blown to bits sums up the Mandalorians perfectly! Don't worry, this wasn't stuff seen in Clone Wars so there aren't things you are missing. And yes there are other Mandalorian clans that all have their own ideas and goals. Some here serve the Empire. Hear a little bit more about Sabine's family, so she's Clan Wren which is a cadet branch of House Viszla which we've all heard before by this point! We'll get more into all that later, and judging by your excited reaction Mel, you'll like it! :D I do like Kanan wanting to approach this problem in a more peaceful manner, especially considering what they did to Hera. Revenge is not the Jedi way, and he's acting like a Jedi here. The Battle Of Mygeeto that Kanan mentions, featured in his comic at the time and Fenn Rau is also seen in the comic fighting in the skies above. Also the marking on the top of Rau's helmet stems from a very early design placed on Boba Fett's helmet for Empire Strikes Back when that was getting developed. Just found out there is an amazing decal (painted by Sabine of course!) on the cockpit of Hera's A-Wing in this episode, have a look Mel and see what you think! :D https://lumiere-a.akamaihd.net/v1/images/concord-dawn-concept-art_13_8b15dcb2.jpeg

As Saltire mentioned, Sabine Wren is Clan Wren and House Vizsla. Didn't know if you caught this, but Sabine actually mentioned that her mother was a part of Death Watch. Also fun fact: Jango Fett was born on Concord Dawn.

I love Sabine's adoration for Hera. Showing how hurt she was that her friend was hurt. I loved Kanan for trying to resolve things in a peaceful manner. Lol hopefully we can handle things diplomatically in the future, at least once. 😅

Oh nice, I hope you enjoy it! It'll definitely be a while before you get to many, many of the popular characters or arcs, but I think it's worth it to get started! That's a great point about Hera being the glue. In terms of shifting the characters around to observe the dynamic, taking Hera out of the mix definitely shakes things up! Hahha poor Chopper! Oh yeah, there's no way Sabine was gonna sit this one out! Great point that both perspectives have advantages and disadvantages. War is for sure not a cut and dry thing, and balance is key!

Oh I'm so glad I didn't forget anything lol! Thanks! There's something that looks familiar about Clan Wren as well, probably just my imagination, but I can't wait to learn more!!! I'm going to love it for sure!! Yeah, Kanan lives up to the Jedi standards here for sure. Ohhh thanks for explaining about the battle! So cool about the helmet design as well! Hahahaha awwww that Sabine original is a masterpiece, I love it!!! Thanks for sharing!!!

kamenriderhime

Ohhhhh did she now!!! If her mom turns out to be Bo Katan, I'll flip lol!!! Oh, good fun fact about Jango Fett as well!!! Thanks!

kamenriderhime

I can't see your response but got it in my email! It is REALLY gonna bug me that I can't remember the name Wren and who Sabine's mother is in Clone Wars, ahhhh!!! Thanks for ruling out Bo Katan though, I forgot they mentioned her surname in Mandalorian!!!!!

Saltire

I deleted that reply as I subsequently figured it might be a spoiler hehe, but no matter. Yeah Bo-Katan's surname is Kryze. More to come on all this in season 3 though, and as I have said, one episode about Sabine and her family, is one of the best episodes in the show.
