Hey everyone!! Here it is - my reaction to the ep 6 of RWBY ICE QUEENDOM!!!! Whoa, our crew gets some fresh new perspective on how to handle this Grimm situation! I love that Penny helped <3 And also that we looked to our friends, the other people who care about Weiss too, to come up with a strategy! Weiss is still in there, subtly trying to do what she can to protect what's important to her - even if it means putting folks in sillies jail I guess? So now, there are four! Or wait...are there?! Where the heck did Jaune go?! Guess we'll find out! Great ep! Enjoy! ~ MH

Can't wait to see what Jaune does in the dream.

In Weiss ' dream the dog is Sleepy Klein and the book she is carrying is Winter.

kamenriderhime

Oh thank you so much for clarifying! I thought for sure Weiss was looking at the dog when she said it, she was probably talking to the book :P I'm like did Winter turn into a dog??? Lol thanks again.

Spadeas

Hi Hime :) The dog is actually Sneezy Klein. It surprised me too, I assure you. Weiss saying that Ruby (and Yang) are precious to her, we'll end up having official Whiterose in a spin off rather than the original series lol By the way, speaking of which, consider the glass coffin seen in episode 5, the knight's relics, which was on Ruby's bed. If we take up the story of Snow White, after biting the apple and dying, she is put in a glass coffin until a prince comes to kiss her. My whiterose fan heart secretly hopes the red knight portrays Ruby as the prince coming to rescue Princess Weiss from her sleep. But the arrival of Jaune could steal this role from her, sniff.

Happy RWBYVersary on Thursday, when you did the initial reaction to the RWBY Trailers! You also did a reaction to the Demon Slayer movie trailer the same day, and weee talking about the implications of being stuck in a dream. Do you plan for this stuff? 😂 Okay, let’s see what I picked up on. First of course, there’s the whole Weiss can’t get Blake out of her head thing because she keeps coming back. As had been covered, that just pretty much means Blake is influencing Weiss’ thoughts just by being who she is… and the Nightmare is trying to reject her through Negative Weiss. Blake probably hasn’t realized that just by acting like a decent person it’s turned Weiss’ entire point of view around. The dog is Sneezy Klein. To this point, we’ve seen six of the seven personalities of Klein based on the seven dwarves. The only one we haven’t seen yet is Bashful. I’d like to stop and point out that we’ve been talking an awful lot about Weiss’ insecurities, here - but the truth is it’s the insecurities of the other members of Team RWBY we’re dealing with in this chapter. Let’s start with Ruby. Her biggest insecurity is that she fears she won’t be a good leader. She’s always been a pure soul, but at such a young age, being given that responsibility is going to put a weight on you, and you can see several times she is doubting herself throughout the episode. Blake’s insecurity is far more subtle, and isn’t really covered until later in this episode, but it seems her biggest fear is that she won’t be able to change anyone’s thoughts towards Faunus without having to resort to violence, much like the White Fang. That leads me to Yang. She was by far the most enraged when Weiss “poked the bear” with her, if you will, accusing her of coddling Ruby and being overprotective of her, and smothering her chance to grow herself. Yang got very angry at this - because it actually hit a nerve. Yang’s always cared for her sister, but deep down she’s worried that she is indeed sheltering her too much. Everyone has to find their own path and even Ruby can’t do that without experience. Has Yang’s eagerness to be there for her actually denied Ruby that chance? These are questions that linger with her. The decoys are interesting in that it seems that everyone inside the dream immediately latches on to them when a coin is used to make one. We can definitely tell a difference, but can even Weiss? When Blake used her decoy, Weiss immediately destroyed it, letting the real Blake get away. Also, Weiss can summon Dust cartridges… and her own personal Grimm Summon army. That’s concerning. I do think it’s a interesting metaphor that the Nightmare’s thorns are a huge obstacle in getting to Weiss. When you think about the personality our Ice Queen has, it makes perfect sense. That relic seems to be the key though, and at the heart of the core the vibes are guarding is… the concert hall where Weiss first performed Mirror, Mirror in the White Trailer as well as her V4-V6 outfit: the same outfit Pyrrha had a version of when she was singing the song in the last episode. And the Nightmare is guarding the stage. What could this mean? Is the relationship between Weiss and Pyrrha an important connection here? Ruby did get scratched by the Nightmare’s thorns after being warned not to touch them. Now when she woke up, she still had the injuries on her hand… yet they seemed larger somehow. Did they just get a warning because they’d take physical harm or are there going to be worse repercussions here? The greatest weapon the Nightmare has, however, is its ability to sow discord among its would-be-rescuers. You can see just how confused everyone is - and ticked off after they wake up, which is probably chilling out and eating anime food was probably a good idea. It does make sense that Weiss would want to protect things that are precious to her, so let’s think about this. JNPR was locked in a town jail, and Ruby and Yang were isolated on a tower - a tower Ruby noted was filled with Weiss’ favorite things. You need to keep something in mind: while Ruby and Weiss meet pretty early on in the series, Weiss is quite likely the first REAL friend Weiss has ever had. So of course that’s going to have a huge meaning to her and she would want it protected. After all, her other running theme is isolation. Of course Penny’s going to be able to shed a new light on things… usually she figures stuff out by accident. But calling sleep “maintenance” actually makes sense. Now the real question here is what parts of the dream will they try to swap out? It’s nice to see Blake and Sun chatting again, it’s been quite a while if you watch the main show. Regardless of the ongoing ship war in the FNDM with Blake, no one’s going to ever tell you he doesn’t have a good influence on her and the way she thinks about things. So it seems Jaune can kind of be a double agent since he was previously infected, but it comes with a risk…? Come on, you know he’s going in if it has something to do with helping Weiss out. Hopefully she starts appreciating how much he really does care about her as a person specifically one day. 😉 I do also think it’s nice to see Pyrrha pushing him to go through with it too. Third time’s the charm? Well, it better be, because if Weiss ends up dying after all this, I’ll be leading the riot for once… Also, all of their markers for door shortcuts and such have been destroyed. They only have 12 more coins to use, I’m guessing. Now we know there was another knight in the sleeping coffin the Nightmare is trying to use to entice Weiss into. So we’ll probably have to get that at some point. Also, the Nightmare is on to RBY, so they spawn outside the town on the outskirts. The Nightmare doesn’t recognize Jaune, so it’s probably a good guess he started in the jail we saw before. Let’s go turn Negative Weiss into “Nice Weiss!” A couple of things unrelated to the episode I thought you’d find interesting. Some of the voice actors have been in other things you’ve reacted to. Ruby’s VA has a ton of things on her resume, but you might know Fubuki from One-Punch Man, Therese from Rising of the Shield Hero, and Nishimiya (the deaf girl) in A Silent Voice. Weiss’ VA has also been in Jujutsu Kaisen as Utahimi Iori. Blake’s VA is also Annie from Attack on Titan. SPEAKING of Attack on Titan, Bat Whitley is being played by Armin’s VA. I thought you’d like to know that. Oh, and in completely unrelated but GREAT ideas that I can’t actually execute, unfortunately… cause I suck at drawing…. Team RWBY dressed up as the core four Imagin from Kamen Rider Den-O. I mean, we’ve already got matching color schemes for each of them, which occurred to me last night. Yay or nay? 😎

I really wish Blake would've scratched some of those oversized chairs in the basement like a "bad" cat, just to provoke Weiss, LOL.

John J Ronald

I do think Studio SHAFT are definitely STANS of #WhiteRose , especially after this episode.

John J Ronald

Tai: It's okay, Yang, everyone has trouble making cold calls....

John J Ronald

The scene with Penny & Yang is super cute but does technically break canon a little because Penny was specifically told NOT to interact with Team RWBY after the fight at the docks, but here she chats up Yang like normal.

John J Ronald

Upon second viewing there's a LOT of psychosexual symbolism going on in the first half of this episode that I can't unsee now that I've seen it....it's just....wow. I wrote about it in more detail on my Tumblr, GenXOtaku1971.

Manny

Very insightful perspectives. These are true bonds here.

kamenriderhime

Hi Spadeas! :) Thanks so much for clearing that up, glad I wasn't teh only one who was surprised!!! There's definitely a lot of room here for White Rose isn't there! I can totally see the fairy tale vibes here, it could really go either way with Ruby or Jaune being the "prince" right! But this must have been so exhilarating for WhiteRose fans!!!!

kamenriderhime

Oh wow! I bet there's so much hidden in plain sight here in the details. It definitely seems like the type of series that has a ton of layers and symbolism!

kamenriderhime

Ahhh so sorry for the delay in getting back to you, and thanks for the RWBYversary wishes!!! I know right, how do I always end up watching all these head-twisting things in the same week?! Yeah the Blake/Weiss stuff makes a lot of sense, and the influence there is profound. Thanks for clarifying about the dog! Oh, that's such a good point about the other team members' insecurities! All three girls have something they're kind of dealing with/struggling with. The dummies do seem to be convincing to Weiss, and the Grimm/Dust situation is for sure concerning. Ohhhh that is the same stage isn't it, good call!!! Hmm, they might be drawing some kind of parallel here with Pyrrha, it seems a bit much to be a coincidence. That confusion is a powerful weapon for sure. That's a great point about Weiss' urge to protect as well!! Of course Penny helped!!! And yeah, I'm curious to see what they do with the dream now. Oh yeah, regardless of where one stands ship-wise, Sun is awesome and has been great to Blake! Yeah of course Jaune will do it for Weiss, and so nice that despite everything Pyrrha is encouraging him!!! Oh that would be awful if they killed off Weiss after all this lol! Yeah, makes sense that the Nightmare is keeping the girls away but hasn't gotten on to Jaune yet, so he spawned elsewhere. Also, do you watch Kamen Rider Revice? Because Nice Weiss reminded me of "Nice Vice", which is a catchphrase that was said a few times on the show haha. OMG the VAs!!!!!!!!! That's amazing! Someone told me about Armin because I recognized that I knew the voice right away when Whitley appearing, seeing as how Armin is my son and all <3 AHHHHHHH RWBY x Den-O needs to be a thing!!!!!!!! I wish I was better at drawing too so I could bring that to life!!!!!!!!!!! XD

Tyler Stobbe

Haven’t seen Revice yet - the “Nice Weiss” line is actually a moniker Ruby used for Weiss in V5C8 which was immediately responded to by a unveiled threat to pour scalding hot coffee on the red hood. :)

Darren

Great reaction my dear :) still exciting to see the dubbed one at some point, but also still hoping you react to the death battles of yang weiss and blake lol xxx
