Hey everyone!  Here it is - my reaction to season 2, episode 11 of REBELS!!!!  WHOA....I gotta admit, they REALLY know how to do drama when they want to!
This one was a heartbreaker for sure!  The way we are kept guessing on whether or not his parents are still alive, right up until the end...it really feels like we're going through it with Ezra.  I'm glad they at least heard his message, and that he has an awesome found family to look out for him.  All we can do now is fight in their memory!!!  So sad but beautiful!!!  Great ep! Enjoy!!!  ~ MH

All the times I've seen this episode, I think it just clicked with me, when Ezra has his vision and says to his parents that he 'can't see them', perhaps indicates that they have moved into the beyond now. A very moving episode in the final act as Ezra hears about his parents fate and how it was his voice in the message the Ghost crew beamed out, that inspired his parents to help people escape the prison, at the cost of their own lives. Kanan being so supportive of him throughout this episode, showing how close they are becoming, not just as master and padawan, but almost father and son. And Chopper tapping Ezra on the knee as he breaks down into tears, shows even he can feel empathy for his crew when one of them is in emotional pain. (well maybe not Zeb as he REALLY doesn't like him especially after the latter put him up as stakes in a card game against Lando!!) Beautiful music at the end too and as Ezra deals like a boss against the stormtroopers and Kallus. Again showing just how great the music is in this show. Ryder Azadi is played by the great Clancy Brown, who was in Clone Wars and Mandalorian too. He played Savage Opress in TCW and the red Devaronian who is nearly invincible in the prison episode of season 1 of Mando. He's also done many memorable turns in films, the Kurgan in Highlander, the tall sadistic prison guard in Shawshank Redemption and is superb in Starship Troopers; of course for younger people, he played Mr Krabs in SpongeBob. And yes, Hera is the best!! Btw all the names of the crew (I think apart from Zeb and Chopper) were picked for a reason. Hera for example was the wife of Zeus in Greek mythology, and is the goddess of marriage, women and family; so you can see those traits in the character here.

First off you’re a reactor to Star Wars, Rooster Teeth, and anime among other things. Seeing as you’re already a “emotional masochist” you should always make sure the Unicorn is stocked before turning on the camera, this one’s kinda on you! 😂 Okay regarding the episode itself: it seems Ezra was going about 150 MPH for a while, and it kind of made me think: he’s not acting unlike Anakin did when the arc with his mother was taking place. You know the one. I think what this means is, while Ezra is growing a mile a minute, he’s not completely in control. I can definitely see the Dark Side potential here if he’s not careful. All I’m gonna say is, this is going to become an issue if something happens to another member of the Ghost. Kanan is working hard but this will definitely be a challenge if it arises. I do think calling Zeb and Chopper the delinquents is perfect, they always seem to be the ones getting into mischief. The rebel fleet had to scatter because that attack on Garel was orchestrated because of that probe from the last episode. Now everyone is without a home base again. I’m just saying, you might want to check out a moon near Yavin… 😉 Ryder’s conversation is devastating to Ezra but it does get cut off. First, Ezra doesn’t go into berserker mode, which already means he’s got a little more self control. That’s probably a good sign. But he said Ezra’s parents wouldn’t leave until everyone else was out. By then it was too late… but he never expounded on what he actually saw. Can he confirm they’re dead or does he just think they are? I have questions… 🤔 Also, the scene with his parents at the end I’m pretty sure us a flashback as they mention the Empire hasn’t come yet. You have no idea what’s on the next episode? Gee, I think you’ll be happy with the next item in the grab bag. 😂 (Of course you’ve seen it by now so I’ll move on.)

Wow so we finally know. I’m glad he found an answer. At least now Ezra’s mind can stop racing for one. May the force be with him, always. 🥺👨‍👩‍👦

Oh this could not be more true, the Sad Unicorn must be fully stocked at all times! That's totally on me :P Oh, that's a good point about the similar reaction between him and Anakin...I mean it's understandable, yet something to watch out for for sure!!! I suppose that title does fit for Zeb and Chopper! Oh, good call about losing the base! Ezra handled it a lot better than I would have thought for sure. That's the thing, I feel like this is closure yet the wording still makes me think it wouldn't be surprising if they weren't really dead one day....! Ah, gotcha on the flashback, thanks for clarifying. Ahhhh the next ep blew my mind!!!!!!!!! XD

Oh that's a good point, that could very well be why he couldn't see them! Isn't that beautiful, that it was hearing his message that inspired them one last time?! So true that the bond between him and Kanan is emphasized throughout here. Gorgeous music, they are absolutely on point with the score in this show! LOL Zeb might not have the warmest feelings atm but it's really nice to see our crew be there for him, even Chopper with his little tap! Oh no kidding, had no idea Clancy Brown voiced him! So cool that he was also Savage and in so many other notable things! Hera's amazing!! Ohhh interesting note about the names as well, I never thought of it but that totally fits!

I love the dynamic of the relationship between Kanan and Ezra in this show, as its a master/padawan relationship we haven't seen before. Usually you have the master being the all-knowing wise tutor, even with Anakin and Ahsoka as Anakin was further along in his (supposed) development as a Jedi, than Kanan got to be. Here though, both are indeed as you say, learning from each other, and though Kanan isn't faultless as we've seen, he is exactly what Ezra needs for his development; and is one of the reasons its my favourite and most developed master/padawan relationship we've seen in Star Wars.

kamenriderhime

Yes, that is so true! Theirs is a much more give and take. They are really what each other needs, it's beautiful. Can't wait to see more of the relationship!
