Hey everyone!  Here it is - my reaction to season 2 episode 2 of That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime!  Well, it should come as no surprise that one way or another, this battle was a way of sizing each other up!  But Shion found out a little too late....LOL!  What a great display of strength, without even trying, by Rimuru!  Glad to have the Animal Kingdom on board, sounds like they have some awesome fruit, and we have some helpful skills - so this is a win win!
What's worrying me is that last scene though....just who is this individual who's trying to get their heart back from Clayman?!?!  Guess we'll find out!  Enjoy!  ~ MH

So first it seems like Rimuru is able to prevent disaster just by eating everything in sight, including a magic bullet. Now part of mexhopes he can spit it back out when we need to. 😈 Rimuru’s a master tactician when it comes to negotiations, clearly. All he has to do is get his visitors drunk and promise them more, and he’s got them eating… (or in this case, drinking…?) out of his hand. *Sees Koby - me: Welp, I already know someone who’s not going to be able to focus AT ALL while this character is on screen. Don’t worry too much about Rigurd. Pretty sure the reason he’s acting so emotional is that Rimuru just let him finish Volume 8… 👀 Speaking of which… Rimuru-san, there’s a Ms. Rose on line 1, she wants to know how when she can have her cape back? I see Rimuru has all sorts of tricks up his sleeve, but clearly using alcohol as a motivator seems to be working for both his negotiations and his work force. Umm… maybe next time you go somewhere without Shion, it might be better if you… DON’T tell her? Or maybe not, the town might be gone. Darned if you do, darned if you don’t, Rimuru. 😅 Did anyone else think Rimuru was being just SLIGHTLY hypocritical when he freaked out about Benimaru picking a fight? Remind me what you were doing at the start of this episode again? The crystal ball Clayman is using seems to be replaying scenes from the Charybdis fight. Also, Mjurran… hmm, she’s trying to get her heart back and has to do what’s asked of her…? This sounds very similar to the relationship between Shizu and Leon in terms of his hold over her, but it doesn’t seem like she’s here willingly. Guess we’ll find out. (Also, sounds like her name is pronounced Mee-YUR-an, like Mjolnir. Speaking of which, did you get to Thor yet?) Anyway I get the feeling this is going to cause trouble. Rimuru needs to stop saying things like “I hope this peace lasts forever!” He’s clearly not learning how things work in the anime world! 😂

The difference between Myurran and Shizu is that Shizu was a Summon, and Leon let her go on her way more than 50 years earlier, despite still being cursed with Ifrit. I'm not completely sure that Ifrit was actually the curse, even if Shizu sees it that way because it was because of Ifrit that she killed her friend and so never fully united with him. You could argue that Shizu would have died a long time ago without Ifrit, after all that's where Rimuru got the idea to use spirits to get the children's energy under control..... It's no wonder Rimuru thinks alcohol makes business and socializing easier, that's the general belief in Japan.....Shion didn't freak out when Rimuru left for the school--because Shuna didn't go either!

Oh wow I did not see Koby coming. Is he in an ova that we missed? They introduced him out of the blue. I love him and I wanted to hug his anxious self. 🤗 I’m missing Youm and his group already, they’re really cool, as cool as Gabiru. But we got Benimaru and Riguru back yay. I’m glad the outcome was positive. Ugh basically everyone has grown into such fine people 😭 😭 😭

OMG right?! I'm guessing he was from one of the less pivotal OVAs but wow, what an epic surprise to have a GIANT PUPPY!!! Awwwww yes I wanna hug him too <333 Oh yeah, seeing Youm was great! Yay Benimaru and Riguru!! Omg seriously, it makes me proud to see how far everyone has come haha!!!

I should also mention the roads they built are a bit special. There's a bit of a barrier around the Jura Forest which acts as a safety barrier that repels stronger monsters and to some extent, also repels weak monsters, although the Goblin Wolf patrol are there to get rid of weaker monsters. Because of this barrier around a huge part of the entire forest, multiple nearby nations inside and outside of the forest are able to have safe travel with just about no encounters with monsters. I will talk a bit more on this later on toward part 2 of Season 2.

In the novels: Kaido the Dwarf security guard who caught Rimuru for making a 'commotion' at the front gate, interrogated Rimuru. Rimuru made up a story that he is actually a young female human who was cursed to look like a slime. When Kaido saw Rimuru's female form, he was like "WAIT THE STORY WAS TRUE?!" And while Rimuru was playing it off and tricking him, Kaijin scolded Rimuru while Rimuru kept acting like a teenage girl. Lot of fun and funny moments in the novels! PS: There are quite a handful of moments when people blush when seeing Rimuru in his human form, since he looks like a beautiful androgynous male and a beautiful girl at the same time. Including Kaido.

Hahahahah oh that's fun! Too bad they left it out! I've been hearing about how Rimuru's beauty is perceived, that's something they left out of the show a lot.
