Hey everyone!  Here it is - my reaction to season 1 episode 18 of That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime!  WHOA, this escalated quickly!!!  Shoot, I've only known Phobio for a hot minute here but, I almost felt bad for him walking right into a trap like that!  And so now Charibdys is reborn....and also is VELDORA'S KID?!?!?  WHAAATTTT!!!  What a twist!!!  And so we prep to go to full-scale war here, sheesh.  I know our crew can handle it, but what worries me even more is that we get a brief mention of how Charibdys is almost mild compared to Leon!!!!!!!!!  :O  That's for another day though haha.  Can't wait!!!  Great ep!  Enjoy!  ~ MH

Oh gosh all these clowns and their bufoonery causing so much trouble for Phobio and his squad. I didn't realize Ringling brothers were in town. 🤡 I actually felt for Phobio after this. 😢

Hi Hime :) I was deprived of the internet yesterday so with a little delay, finally seeing your reactions. Just a little bit of classic history, Charybdis is derived from the Greek mythological creature Charybdis. In mythology, Charybdis is a creature with a strong appetite who, after a crime, was punished by the gods by being sent to the bottom of the ocean, where she engulfed the waves and all that approached the abyss thus formed. One of the best-known illustrative stories is that of Odysseus, who while seeking to pass through a sea strait, had to choose between approaching Charybdis or Scylla (another monster devouring those approaching her). Finding he had a better chance of surviving with Scylla, he approached her and lost a few sailors, but Charybdis would have destroyed his ship and all his men. This is where the expression comes from, falling from Charybdis to Scylla, which means going from one problem to another. So even if here it is a flying creature, the fact that it summons sharks is a nod to its original version.

Hi Spadeas! :) Oh no, sorry you were without internet!! Thanks for the info on Charybdis! Ohhhh wow, didn't realize there was an extensive history in mythology, very interesting! That makes sense about the nod then. Thanks!

The first time I saw that scene with Phobio and clowns I thought that there has to be some influence on him by the clowns, Footman in particular, because of what he said about emotions. But I don't have any evidence to back that up.

I heard the expression "between Scylla and Charybdis", which I thinks means something similar to "a rock and a hard place."
