Hey everyone!  Here's my reaction to episode 107!   Oh man, we are really truly building up to an epic fight now!!  We finally get to catch up with my little boy, who's all better and ready to change Ikalgo's life with friendship the same way that Gon changed his!!!!  Also, ick, don't wanna think about what Palm had to go through to get here, but here she is!  And Morel shows why he just the ultimate pro hunter at this point...like wow, Leol never stood a chance!  Can't wait to see what happens next!  Great ep!  Enjoy!!  ~ MH

The process of Killua making friends with Ikalgo by using lessons he learned from Gon, is a plot device (that I learned from HxH, though I imagine it originated elsewhere) called "The Torch of Kindness". Passed first from Gon to Killua, and now from Killua to Ikalgo. I say all this, yet it seems like you actually caught on quick to this theming. You might be surprised how many people miss the parallel between how Killua looks at Gon in episode 85 - "so bright, I have to look away" as Killua says - and how Ikalgo looks at Killua. Nice going! As for the fight with Leol, his power requires three conditions to activate: 1. He needs to have seen the ability, or know its name. 2. He must grant the owner of the power a favor, and have the owner "agree that the favor is expected to be repayed." 3. The owner must remain alive, or the power is deleted from his registry. Given this, and the comment from Leol during the fight about how he really wants to get Morel's Deep Purple but winning is more important, my guess is this: Leol can beat someone into submission during combat, and then offer to spare their life as a "favor". The conditions do not require explanation as to what the repayment is, only that the owner agrees to repay him. I'm guessing this is how he stole Grachan's power in the first place. There's a moral here that I actually really like. Leol created a power that works around granting people favors - helping them, if he wanted to - and then being able to do a whole host of unique and cool things in return; far more than any nen user (without a similar power thief ability, like Chrollo) could do single-handedly. He could have done a lot of good as a person and as a Hunter potentially. But he was more interested in using this genuinely well thought out and useful ability for seeking his own selfish power-grab, and it ends up being his undoing. I don't think it's a coincidence that this story arc is paired up with one where Killua makes friends with an enemy because he's able to see the good in someone. And yeah, there is something about his death that is very sad and lonely. But then, he mauled/ate(?) a woman on live TV, so I don't feel TOO bad for him. Also, in the scene with Palm and Bizeff, you can see that Bizeff spilled his glass on the bed, likely as he was passing out from a spiked drink. I don't think Palm needed to do... that with him until he fell asleep.

And this is the other reason why I think of Morel when I think of pro Hunters in the world of Hunter x Hunter. A potentially extremely dangerous fight(Once again kind up against someone above their weight class, so to say) treated like a day at the circus because the opponent underestimated him and accidentally put all of Morel's pieces in the right place.... Like the sheer absurdity and audacity of how Morel won has to be one of my favorite moments in HXH. Oh BTW, the mangaka of HXH probably named Deep Purple after a certain band of the same name. The reason I think that? They got a song called "Smoke on the water." ....Though in this episode's case, it was Smoke IN the water. XD

I went back a few eps. The scene with Knov and Morel having a difficult time with their requests of hunter who would best help their operation. Morel is arguing over the phone, using a name (one we the audience don't recognize). Riakke (It's not a name to remember, I think it's a name of a hunter he knows that just passes by thru their conversation). Morel says he'd be perfect for this but the review board had sent a random hunter Morel never heard of. Basically theyre sending in hunters in. So I just surmise the name they used here (I think it was Grachan) is one of Morels buddies that we don't meet. Maybe sent to help and Leol just happened to gain his ability along the way. I just wanted to clear any confusion on that. You're not missing anything. And yes Ikalgo in his little fit was everything 🤩

Hi Hime :) Knov and Palm were first confronted with the aura of Pufu, the blue aura, filled with pure malevolence and malice (which is Pufu), but then Palm was confronted with the aura of Pitou (in red). Pufu said that he could not deploy his aura, as much as Pitou. That's why it doesn't go beyond the floor, but as soon as Pitou deploys her, it goes further. Morel attacks is Deep Purple, a rock group whose most famous song is Smoke on the water. That's what we call pushing the pun to the end with this fight lol. Removed the pin from his head, slightly changed Killua, or rather freed this one. It's probably how he felt for a long time, thanks to Gon's influence, but Ilumi's pin was surely to restrict him in this area. Now he is almost a Gon bis, even if he takes more time to establish trust, but he knows what true friendship is and is able to reach out to another, who needs his friendship. About Nen, glad you rave about its diversity and flexibility. It's not for nothing that it's considered one of the best power systems in all manga (along with the stands from Jojo's bizarre adventure, but since Togashi is a Jojo fan, he went to good school lol ). It is by the way inspired by Nen that I developed my own power system for one of my stories.

Ohhhh I didn't realize it was kind of a common thing! And yay, I caught it!!!!!!!! Ohhhhhh thanks for clarifying the way Leol's power works, as well as a likely way he racks up favors! Oh man, you're so right that this power could have been used for a lot of good! And excellent point that this being paired up with the Killua story makes total sense in that light! Well that's true, the whole mauling thing makes me think twice on feeling sorry for him lol. Ohhhhh that's actually really good news about the drink lol, I was worried for Palm!!!! Thanks for all the info!

kamenriderhime

Yes!!! Such a great point! Morel has what seems to be a limitless imagination when it comes to strategy with his power, which ultimately makes you like, the strongest Pro Hunter!!! Ohhh you know what, I kept wanting to make a reference to the band Deep Purple, considering his whole deal is smokey things. But WOW, the fact that it all led to this moment - the literal combination of smoke and water - is just chef's kiss hahaha!!!

kamenriderhime

Oh thank you for that!!! I was wondering if we'd heard of the hunter before!! I was totally confused as well haha. OMG the little outfit for Ikalgo just made my whole life hehehe!!!

kamenriderhime

Hi Spadeas! :) Ohhhh thanks for clarifying about the aura! YES, I love the Deep Purple pun!!! Awww I love the Killua is free in so many ways now that the pin is removed! I love that he's now able to reach out to someone else in need of friendship. It's seriously an awesome power system!!!! It seems just limitless!!! So cool that you were inspired by it for your stories too!!!!!!!!!!
