Hey everyone!  Welcome back, I'm back today....with my reaction to this epic livestream!  Gotta say, I'm pretty glad I got to see the whole thing - live performance, panel, and all!!!  SO awesome that Ruby's VA wrote the end theme song in addition to performing it!  Also, the animation looks sooooo good, I honestly cannot wait for this show to come out!  I'm not clear on the details but I know it will be great no matter what they decide to do - straight adaptation, going off in another direction, etc.  YAY for new RWBY content!!!  XD  Enjoy!!  ~ MH

Im pretty sure itll be mostly faithful to vol 1 but then maybe go off in another direction once everything is established

It seems to me that when Weiss was looking at a mirror or a figurative mirror that shattered and her reflection was still standing there that this might be where the story veers off to The Ice Queendom story

Hi Hime :) Ok so in the end, I already knew pretty much everything that was said during this conference, even more since I saw the designs for JNPR. But seeing the messages from the team, especially that Huke (chara designer) is a fan of RWBY, it's nice. The trailer really shows what's happening in Volume 1 from what I remember, so I'm thinking given the alternative design of our heroines and the broken mirror and Weiss' double, we'll be going on a kind of What If, like what if Yang is raised by Raven among the Bandits or what if Weiss does not go to Beacon. And I'm up for that, it won't erase the existence of the show and will bring its own twist to the universe. Like I said, I'm also very satisfied with Shaft's choice as a studio, I'm a big fan of the Monogatari saga, so Shaft adding its own style to the RWBY universe, that's promising for me.

Yeah i agree its gonna be great and interesting to see this alternative path they take, i wonder if they will show the english version at rtx :) also the 2 images of Wiess you can see one image of her with her hair in a centre ponytail, Weiss has a reason for having her hair the way its normally shown, i could be overlooking it but to me it looks like it xx

Surely the VAs from the English version like Linsey etc will be dubbing over it, gosh thats crazy, but they must be doing great time doing that and the core series :) love rwby so much, also remember theirs the rwby death battles to react to aswell, :)

So they only teased things we already know from Volume 1, but apparently this will be an Alternate Universe where things diverge from the main story. And yes, I think it's official the English cast will all reprise their roles as well....so Lindsay Jones, Kara Eberle, Arryn Zech, and Barbara Dunkleman, et. al. The weirdest thing will be a new version of RWBY with new music by someone other than Jeff & Casey Williams.

Sidebar, I recently finished watching through Volume 7 of the Japanese Limited Edition Blu-Ray of RWBY, which all came out (belatedly) late last year. Vols 5-7 lack English subtitles but I've seen RWBY so many times it's not like I couldn't follow it in "raw" Japanese.

Looking at the new Ruby Rose snow-boarding coat design, I'm trying to imagine Lindsay Jones saying "Take off, Hoser!" in Ruby's voice but with a Canadian accent ;-)

I know that Barbara has done some anime voice acting on the side....she played a villain character in one of the very later episodes of Fairy Tail....but Arryn, Kara & Lindsay will have to adjust to dubbing "anime style"....matching lip flaps, etc. The way they record for traditional RWBY the line reads come first and the animation is created around the performances.

Gen Urobuchi's participation is exciting but he isn't nicknamed "Urobutcher" for nothing, so I wonder how bloody/gory RoosterTeeth is gonna let him get......

I would bet this drops before RWBY9 and yes, I'd love to see you react to RWBY Icequeendom since I know you'd be watching it in Japanese, probably.....

I'm honestly a little excited and a little hesitant for RWBY Ice Queendom. Hesitant cuz I'm not sure if this story was truly necessary to be told and because I wasn't sure previously on whether or not it would be considered "canon" to the main RWBY storyline, but in the end I'm excited for it because...well it's more RWBY and I'm always here for more RWBY content! Plus I've always wondered what the show would've been like if it were animated like a traditional anime, and I'm happy to see that it is just as awesome as I thought it would be! The designs and the style are soooo good looking. Now as of the show itself, recent news has stated that it will be "canon-adjacent" (whatever that means) and that the first two episodes will be dedicated to the retelling of Volumes 1 to 2. Everything else after that will be new story stuff!! Very intriguing! Very excited to watch this along with you when it releases, whether that be in the Japanese sub or the English dub!

“Do you want to see me react to this…?” DUH. 😄 Although I’m a bit torn now because I know that the original English VAs are dubbing for the JPs here - so which one would you watch? I can’t decide yet because I really like the OG VAs as well! We do have some unconfirmed leaks that this is coming out in the summer season. (Someone posted a news thread to Crunchyroll and then took it down because it was apparently up too early saying this.) Okay - minor tangent incoming here - I DO consider RWBY an anime. I have heard that Japanese recognize it as an anime as well, and I get a little annoyed when people tell me it isn’t - most of these people are Western speaking elitists who refuse to acknowledge what’s in front of them. What about an anime adopted from Korea, those are common these days too? I’ll explain it like this: Japan came up with the original recipe for making anime - but that does not mean that they’re the only ones who can use the recipe. I’ll use food: if you go to an Italian restaurant and order dinner there, is it not Italian food because it’s being made by (in our case) American cooks following the same instructions and specifications in their own language? What I’m enjoying the most now is a lot of these lists that have excluded RWBY from it are now going to be forced to add it. 😁 Okay. Mini rant over! Looking at the trailer itself, particularly the last scene reminds me of two key lyrics in Weiss songs (which we all know are S-class): The first is The Path to Isolation: “Mirror, what’s this thing I see? Who is staring back at me? A stranger to my heart has filled my mind… Mirror… help me… who am I?” The second is This Life is Mine: “I’m shattering the mirror that kept me split in pieces, that stood between my kind and my heart: this is where I’ll start…” So there was a lot of speculation about what this is, based on the character designs. We kind of wondered if it was a what if… From the trailer it looks like Weiss takes Ruby’s barb a lot harder in the original Volume 1 so people wondered if this was what might’ve took place if Ruby and Weiss had NOT ironed out their differences and became actual friends? That’s a key development in the story. But we’ve gotten a little more information since then from RT. Here’s a post from Geoff Ramsey (you know him as the voice of Grif in RvB) explaining the background of this project and how it falls in the main series - it’s been in the works for a while: https://roosterteeth.com/g/post/67aca396-e2db-4dcc-a687-d7b4cae326a7 Either way, Weiss is my favorite character and with the title being what it is, sure sounds like we’re going to have a lot of focus on her. And I’m all for it. I love the Ice Queen! PS however: General Esdeath wants to know what Weiss was doing in her wardrobe yesterday. 😅 (Haven’t watched that anime yet - it’s on the list - but people are making a lot of comparisons between them and Weiss’ new look.) Side note: I don’t bother shippers, because it’s really just supposed to be a fun side thing. This is probably a me issue, but I REALLY don’t like the Bumblebee ship and never have personally, though - as I feel it’s just fan service and RT has felt “pressured” from a lot of vocal fans to make it into a real thing even though it never felt like it belonged in the storyline in the first place, and I feel both of the characters have been a bit hamstrung plot wise by it. I know you and a ton of others are big fans of them, and that’s totally fine. Just know that every time the bees come up in a video of yours in the future I will be obligated to put “GETTING THE BUG SPRAY” in the comment section as a friendly jab. 😁 PSS: I very much doubt Volume 9 will be airing at the same time as Ice Queendom, at this point I’m kind of expecting it to be announced for Fall, after the anime airing period has finished. Either way, I think we can agree that this is a big “W” for all of us who are fans of the series (see what I did there?) Final note: March 27 is when Volume 8 ended. Insert meme here: Loki: I have been falling… for thirty minutes! Ruby, Weiss, Blake, Yang, Jaune, Neo: It’s been over a year for all of us, quit your whining!

Experiencing brings something special. I'm so glad you could share. I was not aware of this. Its awesome. It looks amazing. And some things look similar and some I feel is new. I can't say for sure but it's fantastic I can't ever get enough RWBY. And omg the ladies are so beautiful and so are their garments. So elegant and stylish. That's such a good idea. Exactly - it does nothing to the show itself, just gives us some fun extra stuff. Ah yes, I think you've mentioned Shaft in the past right? Really great choice! Oohhhh can't wait, alternate universe sounds so fun! I never even thought about the dub actually, but yeah, that makes total sense that all the VAs would reprise their roles!! That's interested about the unsubbed version!! That's so cool that Barbara has done other voice acting. But yeah, I'm sure it will be a very different experience to match the animation this way!

Totally understandable! It'll be interesting to see just what this story does and how much it incorporates into actual canon! But yeah, I hear ya about needing more RWBY lol. It is fun to see it anime style! Oooh good detail on the first two eps being a retelling, and the rest being, hmm, canon-adjacent...!!!! Off the top of my head, I wanna say that sounds like they're adding to the backstory, but from what I'm hearing, it's an alternate universe so....hmmm!!! YAY!!! So happy you wanna see my reaction!!!

Omg, before reading the comments, for some reason I had totally blanked on the fact that an English dub would most likely feature the original VAs.....so yeah, that's gonna be really tough to decide!!!!!!!!! >.< Oh I totally see what you mean with your rant!!! I hadn't really thought of it that way, but yeah, if it's done in anime style, then it's anime regardless of the country I suppose. YES, I thought of Mirror Mirror too! Oooohhh that's a good point about the trailer focusing on their fight, perhaps this will be some kind of what if story of how things could have gone differently? YAY Weiss!!!! Oooh, I need to check out Griff's message haha, thanks for the link. Lol I totally hear you about the ship, I know lots of people feel that way and I'm totally cool with whatever anyone does/doesn't prefer :D I do love my Bees but OMG "bug spray" is one of the funniest things I've ever heard in my life!!!!!!!!!!!! Cool they can be like 20 min videos each because they explain the fighters and the stats and weapons they have then the fight then they do a summary at the end why they may have won etc it's fun and it's RWBY they are planning a Ruby one soon I think x

I recently watched their Yoda vs King Mickey from kingdom hearts lol all the fights are different in animation but they are well put together and rooster teeth made them. They should be on YouTube and on their site x
