Hey everyone!!!  Here it is - my reaction to Jujutsu Kaisen episode 14!!  Here we go with a New Year's Special and the kickoff of a brand new arc!!!  Loving the new opening and ending themes!!!  We finally get to catch back up with our school crew in this one, and BOY did Gojo have some epic plans for that reveal hahaha!!!  If you ever see Gojo with a massive crate, you just KNOW something good is about to happen!  But yeah, our crew was understandably a little miffed about not being told.  Meanwhile, the Kyoto school is straight up being told to murder Yuji?!?!  WOW!!!  Until now they hadn't really confirmed Gojo's suspicions, but dang, that was pretty out in the open there.  Can't wait to see what happens next!  Great ep - enjoy!!!  ~ MH

Hi Hime :) As you can imagine, indeed we will get to know the characters more fully during this new arc and I can already say that your opinion will surely change on some, like Todo, you may like him at the end of this arc (I loved it after this arc). This episode was pretty much all about preparation and humor, but the next ones are going to be action-packed. It is always interesting when you have arcs of this kind, like the sports competition or the training of class A and B in MHA or the chunin exam in Naruto. It allows to show the capacities of the characters and their personalities by placing them in situations leading them to express themselves. You also had the case in HxH with the Hunter exam, which taught you about Kurapika and the spiders or show Killua's assassination skills. It's been a classic since the martial arts tournaments of Dragon Ball and pretty much every action shonen has an arc like this.

So, there's some interesting subtext in the Jujuu Scroll bit that might not mean anything, and might just be for comedy, but I think is important. Japanese idols tend to - at least to some extent - put on manufactured personalities. There are rules and restrictions about what they can't do or say to maintain their image. But Takada-chan doesn't seem to care. She says what's on her mind, drinks and gets tipsy on a live-broadcasted TV show, and orders a kind of fish known for the texture than a good taste which is less popular among young people. The original joke was that she fits Todo's PHYSICAL criteria, but here we see him smiling at her being drunk on TV. I think what he admires is her openness and free spirit. Which is why he is so pissed off at his Principal scheming and plotting, even though he has no reason to care about Yuuji and is totally fine beating people up for small reasons.

While I am overanalyzing things, let's look at the Kyoto students reactions to the plan. Mai is fine with it, because she already established that she thinks Itadori is "half-curse." Momo - the girl with the broom - immediately starts to think about the group (can we do it in teams of two? Will Inumaki take us out?) making me think she is the 'class mom.' Mechamaru the 'robot' is very cold and analytical about it. Kamo - the squinty-eyed guy - wants to do it for reasons related to the state of sorcerors as a whole, not his Principal's orders. Miwa is going along with it but hates the idea, and Todo wants nothing to do with secret plots. I might be overanalyzing, but I feel like I could write a short story about this class just based on this episode.

I want a souvenir gift from Gojo too. And to stop global warming 🌎👍

Hi Spadeas! :) Omg, I totally understand what you're saying! I've seen the next ep already now and I can tell you that Todo is quickly rising in the ranks for my fave characters lol. I'm so excited for an action-packed arc full of character development! Such a great staple of shonen stories for sure! Thanks :D

Ohhhh that's so interesting! I love to think that beyond just loving her for her talents, looks, etc. that what Todo really cherishes is her free spirit. It makes total sense in his reaction to the principal too. Thanks for explaining!

Oh these are good analyses! I hadn't read too much into it but I can totally see these certain lines referencing more about their specific personality traits. That's awesome! Thanks for explaining!

Hahaha me too!!! And only Gojo could single-handedly present gifts, bring Yuji back to life and stop global warming all in one ep :P
