Hey everyone! Here it is - my reaction to Rohan at the Louvre!!! WOW this was even better than I thought! Not only did we get to see our dynamic duo in Paris and enjoy all the amazing sights and sounds, but we embarked on a creepy, fun, backstory-ish and plot-twist-y journey!!! The whole concept of the painting was so interesting to begin with, but I never saw it coming that they were going to do all this with it!!! Dang! What an adventure you guys...I dare say it was....BIZARRE?! :D Enjoy! ~ MH

I think it was a decent movie, speaking objectively. Obviously there’s more production value in this than a regular episode. My brain has been all over the place with RL drama/trauma so it’s been incredibly hard for me to focus the last couple of weeks - but I did feel that the pacing of the movie felt a bit on the sluggish side. It’s a very quiet piece for the most part but I believe that’s a common think for Japanese film to do - I do think it drug a bit in the first half because it started to feel like it had nothing to do with the title. All the setup was definitely important - it just felt a bit long to get to the Louvre. Speaking of that, it’s a little bit ironic (or intentional) that Rohan starts the movie dealing with antique fencers and then uncovers an art thief gang. I don’t know if I ever picked up a suspicious vibe from the curator, but something did always feel a bit off. The whole having your past revisiting you is definitely a frightening aspect - we all have things in our past we would love to forget. Izumi on the other hand, kinda feels like trouble bounces right off her. I’m jealous. So I guess this really was about retracing your lineage, in multiple ways, huh? I wasn’t sure where the young Rohan story was going with the black haired lady for awhile, but it seems a lot of these cursed tales usually start out happy then something goes south. Just imagine how much torture she had to deal with as the painting of her took so many lives at the hands of her cursed husband? Why is it the innocent who end up suffering the most…? By the way Rohan wrote “forget all memories” in his page but he seemed fine. That seems kind of like a vague statement and he still seems to have remembered some stuff. He also wrote wipe the words off your face on his hand so he wouldn’t see what he did and try to undo it. But that command seems a bit um… unspecified. I guess you can’t specify everything. By the way next time your PC screen or TV screen turns off don’t look at it. Hey, look, a spider! 👀 🕷️

This had me so flipping fascinated. Lol I am so hitting the Louvre after this! The database, not the actual one. I wish 🫤 I never thought we’d get this much above Rohan’s past. It was not expected. He’s always been a mystery. As much as I love him I gotta admit we don’t get much of how he turned out so awesome/ or well like Rohan. And I was fine with that because it works so well with his character in particular. Just a mangaka whose life’s goal is to put his greatest work out there for fans to enjoy; and nothing less than the best material. So I never thought we’d get to see anything of his past like that so this was incredibly interesting. I always thought getting to know him just a bit more through these stories and growing bit by bit with him was all we were going to get. Idk if this is half canon/semi-canon or whatever but it’s cool how far they delved into his history for this. I love art in general. Especially great art so I was taking notes and comparing to what little I knew about some of the great pieces. Tidbits about the Louvre were great to learn about. I’m a sucker for stuff like this. The bidding alone had me fascinated so I was already so imbedded before we got to the underground storage. Oof that was so crazy. 🫣 🕷️ 🔥 💦 🚘 Okay so at the end, as Rohan and Nanase exchange final words she says “For a long time I’ve been wanting him to stop. I ended up involving you.” That has me wondering how far back this went. When young, shy Rohan is trying to improve his cute girl drawing by sketching her as she’s in the balcony he doesn’t get to finish because she left the spot. Then she emerges from behind him and he has to apologize. That right there is where I think she got herself involved. Although since she’s been there she likely was waiting for some opportunity or maybe just played it day by day until she decided to make a move. Anyway before it was revealed that she was a Kishibe as well I thought the painter was supposed to be the Rohans ancestor. Now I’m guessing some kind of reincarnation was at play. How it makes sense I can’t quite piece it completely together but it is brilliant nonetheless. The whole story was fascinating and light but so dark etc. I’m also glad we got an insight into Izumi and her father. That’s so sweet. Honestly I have to remind myself to be more like her because she is brilliant in every way. Even when others are dealing with loss she’s looking at it in a different light. She’s just fantastic. I think this was a first adventure, or the first in a while that had an ending actually resolved which was nice. The writing to the characters and storytelling were amazing here. This could really be a stand alone movie. I’d recommend this for a movie night it was so good. See the painter all black and attacking Rohan was nightmarish. I just watched Deadpool and Wolverine a couple days ago and I was not as immersed. Not even close. They really outdid themselves. I’m hoping there’s more because you can tell that they truly care about the work and to entertain. Im looking forward and dreading next week. I don’t want it to be over, especially after this. There better be more to come. If they didn’t receive an award for this they should have. 10/10🏆 ◼️

I'm so glad you enjoyed it! LOL yeah I know, the database is as close as I'll get for a while too! That's the thing, we didn't know a whole lot about Rohan's background before this, and I never would've thought we'd get something like this either!! I actually love the idea that we get to know him through his stories too though! Oooh that's so cool about your interest in art, this must've been especially fun then! The auction was really cool and that underground storage thing was wild! Yeah that's a good point about how far back this went. I think you're right about the point at which she decided to get involved. Yeah maybe it's reincarnation, good call! I knew once we saw the same actor for the painter that they must be related, but in order for him to be related to the painter, they would've had to have kids at some point....unless it was in fact a reincarnation situation. I know, they did a great job with piquing our interest here, getting creepy, etc.! I love that we got some background on Izumi too!! Doesn't that just make so much sense! She's amazing!! Oh that's true, usually we don't really get a solid resolution. This could totally be a standalone movie! Ugh omg I know, the final fight scenes were so freaky! I don't want it to be over either! But we still have one more really fun episode coming, from what I know about it I think we're all gonna enjoy it :D I couldn't agree more, this deserves all the awards!!!!

I'm glad you enjoyed it, and sorry to hear you've been dealing with rough stuff in real life! I think they always stretch out the pacing a bit in Rohan stories, I noticed that on the show as well. They're trying to take content that was relatively short and stretch it out a bit. And that's true about the setup too! I imagine our budget didn't allow for much time at the Louvre :P So maybe that's why there was so much leading up to it lol! Yeah Rohan dealt with a lot of art theft in this one! The curator stood out for sure. That's the thing, who doesn't have something in their past like that? Except Izumi I guess lol!! Oof, yeah, it's a scary thought that she watched a lot of people suffer a terrible fate to that painting! LOL yeah I wondered about how the very broad nature of "forget all memories" could be interpreted but it seems it only affected recent memories. OMG I know, no looking at shut off/locked screens for me! NO no no spiders please!!!
