Hey everyone! Here it is - my reaction to the bonus, unfinished ending for Vol. 9 (or start to Vol. 10, depending on how you look at it)!! WOW!!!! Ok I know they mentioned that this would probably not be beat for beat in Vol. 10, but this is absolutely canon in my head now! Everyone dealing with loss in their own way, new friendships that totally add up, existing relationships strained, and just everyone trying to process what's happened. And then....our crew...!!!!! DANG you guys, they got me good with this one!!! So happy they released this and I got to watch it! Keep hoping for a Vol. 10!!! REMEMBER HER MESSAGE!!!!!! Enjoy! ~ MH

This might be one of the best parts of this show. I need to start by saying how much I love this bonus animatic. The emotions it evoked in me & the content as well as the voice acting which was so impressive. I stand by my opinion that if we got volume 9 as CRWBY originally envisioned it going more in-depth with the content from episodes eight through 10 & having this incredible ending it would have been a perfect volume & it is already really great. I was mad for a little while because of the budget cuts because I know it was entirely out of CRWBY’s control now and it more sad that we weren’t able to see this amazing content in a complete version. Because if we got this in addition to the existing volume 9 with extended stuff I would have been sobbing like a baby & it already had me crying some tears. The budget cuts happened because of something internal at RT & while I know Warner Bros. had no direct responsibility for that I still think it had some effect on the budget cuts happening maybe we will know more some day. I have high hopes for volume 10 as well I also say when not if when talking about the future of RWBY. I love how this content is focused on multiple different perspectives of characters who were left in Vacuo to deal with the loss & grief of what happened to RWBY & Jaune not knowing what happened to them & eventually having to believe they died. I love Nora’s speech about wanting to move on even though it’s hard to do when there aren’t bodies to bury. I think it’s powerful that this grave is near the entrance to Vacuo where their friends should have arrived if nothing went wrong. I love how it goes into what everyone lost when everything at the end of volume 8 happened. I think everyone had a similar reaction to Winter’s scream/roar of rage/grief when killing all those Grimm it leaves you awestruck me as well what a performance. It was so cool to see team CFVY & Sun show up to help as the sandstorm cleared. I always love when the consequences of actions are shown & it’s no different here with how the arrival of all these people filled with negative emotions is just increasing the Grimm attacks especially when they first arrived. Oh and I forget the name of them but the giant sand worm type Grimm are from the books. Nora breaking down in front of the grave was hard to watch. It makes sense that some people from Vacuo would be angry/hateful towards the people from Atlas because of how much Atlas messed up the kingdom of Vacuo with colonization & environmental damage. It is wrong to act that way and doesn’t excuse what they are doing but I don’t think you can hate them for that anger because of how bad things have gotten in their world. I think it’s good to go into how hard moving on can be when people have been too hurt with Nora’s great analogy that relates to herself with scarring. I love Nora coming to the defense of the orphan having been one herself. Also with the note on screen to tone down her look of anger I’m just like no I want Nora to be shown as that angry because some people have a negative stigma towards orphans which sucks. I love hearing Oscar’s thoughts about Ruby’s faith & being able to see the good in the world & people. I really feel for Oscar having to deal with the merging getting worse. It makes me think about how great his story is with all his character development especially in volume 7 and 8. Although there were flaws with his character early on I always found him interesting & at this point I love him and him not knowing who he is right now hits hard. It’s interesting to hear him talk about Ruby like this with what happened in volume 9 with her own self-doubt I’m like if only you knew. This does show how inspiring she others. Ren talking about the respect he has for Jaune gets even more sad when you remember the last time they really interacted was when Ren had his explosion where he said hurtful things to him. It’s powerful to hear about how much relied on Jaune. I love that Ren is doing his best to keep everyone together even if it’s not going well. It’s great to see how supportive he’s continuing to be of Nora without pushing boundaries when it comes to their relationship or anything else although it’s rough to know how much pressure she is putting on her shoulders. And Tyrian is causing problems tm LOL. Also Mercury might be helping but he does not look happy to be here with the psycho. Just so you know this moment has to do with book content. And we continue the dark but great theme of Salem preying on people’s suffering & unfortunately there is a lot of that to go around lately. Winter’s part of this is well written but man it’s depressing. Her guilt after everything that happened makes sense but she blames herself too much when a lot was beyond her control. I love how Penny’s impact on the story will never be forgotten. I agree it is really nice to hear her deepest, honest thoughts about Weiss but it’s really sad that without Penny & her sister Winter feels so lost. It’s one of the darkest things in this show that someone wrote don’t come back on their gravestone unfortunately sometimes humanity disappoints you. I love how Qrow & Willow look like they have become friends with how they are both dealing with addiction & continuing their journey of staying sober it’s probably a very wholesome friendship. I like that we see the animosity towards their family because it’s realistic. It sucks to know that a lot of people are losing hope but I love how this is contrasted with Qrow being optimistic. I definitely think it’s important to look at all the good around you even in the worst of situations like this. It’s cute to see the Happy Huntresses playing with kids. I love what Robyn did for Qrow here giving him a physical remembrance of his nieces with the beautiful artwork of Ruby. I love that RWBY & Jaune are able to see that the message worked after having a lot of thoughts that nothing they did was actually causing some good during volume 9. The world really rose to the occasion. The entire end of this animatic fills me with a lot of joy from Nora’s gasp to how happy they all are especially Ruby & Jaune. The “hey everyone” feels so earned after volume 9. Also I like seeing Yang & Blake being physical here. One of the only things I knew about this was Raven being with the heroes which is crazy & makes me think the story will get into the complexities of the Rose/Xiaolong/Branwen family drama situation especially with what was learned about Summer’s final mission in volume 9 which will be interesting. I think if this was the final product we might have seen more characters like Blake’s parents/Ilia, Taiyang or a character from the books maybe. I imagine we would have had different music in the final product but I think the volume 9 music used really fit the scenes. Even in just the storyboards you can see how much love & care that goes into this story with all the detail we can see even in its more simplistic form. Also Vale having fallen is a really crazy & scary development. I agree that I love that the complete version of the Ruby mural in the concept art. I know RWBY will return one day “keep moving forward”. Awesome reaction & thoughts. Keep up the great work. :-) <3

There are so many great details here, like the placement of the "grave", Nora saving the orphan, Ren and Nora's interactions, etc.! Also thanks for clarifying about the things that came from the books! OMG it's heartbreaking to see Winter's perspective here, right?! I love Qrow and Willow helping each other! And Robyn's scene was so beautiful as well. Ahhhh the return was just so amazing!!!! So true about Raven's portals too, I have no idea what we're getting into there but it's sure to be juicy! The music actually fits really well too. Yeah that's crazy about Vale! Keep Moving Forward! And thanks for being so awesome to me, as always!!!
