For some reasons, these songs where he openly talks about his concerns, his struggles and hard times in life that makes me feel even closer to him and appreciate his work and he as a person. Of course we know he put his heart into his music no matter the style or which story he wants to tell with them, but songs like Safety Zone and Blue Side have a special meaning to me and a huge space in my heart, these will forever make me feel more thoughtful about everything him and the boys go through and admire them for every single thing they achieve in all these years, despite the hard times.

the stump he is referring to is a reference to the "Giving Tree" story .... even though the tree gave itself it left a "stump" where one could sit and reflect on life past present and future ..... but he doesn't even have "that" in his life ... this song makes me sad ... but I know he's not STUCK there

Michael Beveraggi got that reference in his reaction. I'm glad because for some reason, I never got around to reading that book as a kid. Sometimes I wonder what the guys grew up reading!
