I thought that my parents were going out of town to visit other family members for Thanksgiving, so my wife and I made plans to take the day off and just relax all day together, and I would marathon the new season of Mystery Science Theater. But it turns out that was a miscommunication and they're actually visiting other family members on Christmas, and they want us to visit them on Thanksgiving. Which isn't a bad thing, really, but it does kind of screw with our plans we had and were excited for, even if it was something simple like just eating too much food and watching crappy movies. I suppose nothing is stopping me from just taking the next day off from work, but I feel like I've missed enough days this month already.... I think what I'll end up doing is still doing as much as I can to get a comic page done on Thanksgiving day, since I don't think I'm really expected to visit with anyone until dinner time, and I'll just take the next day off. I kind of make it a point to not leave the house at all on Black Friday after having to work that day at Wal Mart for several years before launching the comic. It's a Hellish day for anyone in retail, and if you can manage it, I'd recommend avoiding doing your shopping on that day. I would say just order online, but apparently that's a nightmare for the people working in the warehouses on those days as well, so I guess there's really not a good way to deal with this. Maybe just don't bother with next day shipping and let them get to it when they can, I dunno. I've still gotta do Christmas shopping as well and I'm pretty sure it's all gonna be done online.
