10-01 (Patreon)

When Dr. Sharktopus first planned this chapter this transition from awkwardness to comfort was a multi-page sequence. I think it would have been cute, in its own way, but we realized a lot of it would just be repeating things and slowing down the flow, so we talked for a bit and condensed it down to this one page so we can move on to more exciting stuff sooner. Also, in the original script they were making waffles, since waffles are better than pancakes, but pancakes have more visual interest since waffles are just kind of poured into the mold, whereas there's more for Jenna to be doing by tending the pancakes. I think all of Karen's clothes are probably going to have hearts on them from now on... it's kind of fun to find themes with characters and their design. Sort of like a Power Rangers thing... I don't like the idea of having characters have set "uniforms" that they constantly wear, but if the comic gets to be in color then there will definitely be specific colors that the characters favor. What color do you think goes with each character? Also, the Patreon is doing really well! We're almost at $300/month, and if we can reach that goal then Rainbow-Flyer will start drawing colored comics every Sunday! We're at $280 right now... if one reader wants to take advantage of the $25 B&W illustration reward tier than we'll be over the hump. and the comic will update daily here on the main page, in addition to the Side Dishes pages that already update weekly on Patreon.
