I've mentioned a few times that my wife is building her own computer, and although we had some technical problems with it, we've finally got it up and running. We haven't done a full test on it yet to see just how powerful it is... But overall it's still leaps ahead of the computer I'm using. If nothing else it makes me less afraid of potentially building my own PC in the future.

Have you never built a rig from scratch trans? It really is pretty simple...everything is just plug an play nowadays

I never have, but my wife has before in class. The problem all pretty much came down to the Motherboard... we got a really nice Motherboard from Fry's at a discount, since it was a return... but it was missing the backplate that the heat sink for the CPU attaches to. Normally that would be an easy part to replace, but for whatever reason AM4 backplates are hard to find (the local Fry's only had AM3 backplates). We were wrestling with it for about a week trying to find a workaround, but nothing we could put together would put the heat sink flush with the CPU. Eventually we just returned the Motherboard and got a slightly more expensive, and slightly less powerful Motherboard (it had less expansion ports, probably some other technical differences), but that came with all the parts we needed. If we had just bought a new Motherboard from the beginning instead of a used one, we would have had it all put together in a day.

Mostly it was a cost thing. She says it's an AMD ryzen 4, and it had a good ratio of power to cost
