I visited my Dad's house for an early Christmas dinner, since I'll be out of town visiting my mom for Christmas proper. My step-mom gave me a full set of seat covers and carpets for my car, and I was actually really relieved that they didn't fit. For one, I'm not really the type to worry about the aesthetics of my car interior, and for two, as soon as I opened it I knew it was less a gift and more a box of work I would have to do. For one, I'd have to go and clean my car, then I'd have to wrestle and secure all these seat covers onto my car... and it wasn't just for the front seats. There was a back seat cover as well, and I have no idea how that would really work if we had gotten one that even fit correctly. But I knew I'd be digging to get seat belts into place, and my car's not particularly big (but I am), so it would be cramped, uncomfortable, and annoying just to secure these things which I absolutely don't want, but would feel compelled to install just so her gift didn't go to waste. She plans to return it, but it was super awkward asking her not to buy a replacement and needing to explain why I didn't want it.
