Earlier they had a Nintendo Direct where they announced some Pokemon stuff... not surprisingly, they announced a rerelease of Pokken tournament for Switch and a semi-sequel to Sun/Moon on 3DS. Anyway, what I found funny was a weird split I saw in the comments sections of a few sites. Nintendo haters were mocking and belittling Nintendo fans for just accepting and loving everything Nintendo does, even when it's just cash-grab rereleases... but that didn't make sense to me because most of the comments from the other side was whining and complaining that all they really wanted was a mainline Pokemon game on Switch.

2021-12-31 16:21:44 I feel that it was too early to expect a main series Pokemon game for the Switch since it only just came out and Nintendo has stated that they plan to make a successor to the 3DS, but I can understand why people wanted it. S&M suffers from terrible frame rate drops during certain battles when played on a 3DS. I'm disappointed because 1. IDK about Pokken(although I am glad it's being ported, the multiplayer in the Wii U version is way too hard to set up), 2. I don't want to by Gold or Silver, I think I'll wait for Crystal. Besides, I can play Heart Gold on my 3DS, and 3. Not only did we not get any Sinnoh remakes by we are getting the expanded versions of S&M barely a year after they initially released. I can forgive the lack of Sinnoh remakes since the most recent Pokemon games run badly on the 3DS, but I see no reason to buy the exact same game a second time for a slightly expanded story. If it was doing a B2W2 kind of thing, I would be more interested, but as of now, I have no plans to purchase either US or UM.

2021-12-31 16:21:44 Well, from what I've read the USUM games are going to have a new story, as opposed to an altered version of S&M's story... although just how different remains to be seen. I might be more interested if it's a proper sequel, and we get to see the repercussions of the events of S&M... but I've heard rumors that it's going to be an "alternate universe" story, where it's set in the same timeline, but the events unfold differently.

To be fair the Switch I feel is bound to have one at some point, but I don't really understand why 1 year removed to have a follow up game in the same gen, like even story wise I could understand, but pokemon wise there's not much more to add unless there's some sort of new gameplay type. The only real upside is if they finally fix the frame rate on the same, cuz god knows horde encounters were hell to get through.

From what I've heard, the multi-pokemon fights were designed with the New 3DS in mind, so they run like crap on classic 3DS's... anyway, my main concern with the idea of a Switch version of Pokemon is the fact that Switches, if I remember correctly, can't connect directly to one another. In order to do multiplayer Switch games, both Switch systems have to connect to the same wi-fi router (similar to LAN gaming). I'm worried that the Pokemon creators are going to be so obsessed with the "fight/trade with anyone, anywhere, any time" appeal of pokemon, that they'll resist releasing it on Switch, since it's still programmed primarily as a home console, even if it is possible to use it as a mobile system
