Verdant Sanctuary

Wondrous item, rare

Peering into the sphere causes a magical image of a picturesque oasis to take shape complete with flowing waters and swaying trees. This sphere is set into a base carved from the scale of an emerald dragon that serves as a guide to lost wanderers in harsh climates.

You can use an action to shake the sphere and place it on the ground. Over a period of 10 minutes, an oasis will magically sprout up around the sphere including a shaded spot to camp in, enough clean drinking water to satiate 8 people for 24 hours, and a date palm tree containing enough fruit to feed 8 people for 24 hours. This oasis alters the area around it in a 60 foot radius making it comfortable, dry, and thick with covering foliage. Additionally the area is shielded from harsh weather effects like storms. This oasis lasts for 12 hours or until the sphere is picked up, upon which the plants wither and the water dries away.

After using the sanctuary, it ceases to function and the oasis can no longer be seen when peering into it. The image returns after 5 (1d6+2) days along with the ability to generate an oasis.
