Help Needed: Noclip Podcast Producer (Patreon)
Content
Hey folks!
The Noclip Podcast has always enjoyed a healthy audience, but when things have gotten busy its been among our lowest priorities.
Its format has always been a reflection of the production time I could give it. Which as somebody who edits multiple documentaries a month, runs a Patreon and manages a media company - is not that much. It started out as a highly-edited story time series, returned as a more standard interview podcast and even had a stint as a place for the Noclip team to catch up and chew the fat.
The sad thing is I have always loved making them. My media career began on radio, I currently sit in on two popular weekly podcasts, and publish multiple patron-exclusive podcasts a month. So I'd love to do a Noclip podcast if I had the time.
I also see that we desperately need a podcast. The community simply doesn't have a central, recurring beat that they can rally behind. A place for us to share Noclip's big picture, publish the dozens of interview segments that don't make it into the docs, and create new interactions with our community. After a few months of thinking on it I've come up with a fresh format for the overcrowded world of video game podcasts - while creating something fun to record and easy to produce. But to create it I need help.
Who do we need?
Basically I need somebody to help with post-production of our audio and video recordings - and perhaps help with pre-production and hosting if the time comes. The spec below outlines the gig. We want somebody who is experienced in editing audio / video and likely a freelancer who can fit a couple of hours a week around their other gigs. The recordings are mostly remote over discord/zoom - check out our podcast channel for the most recent examples. With your help we'll give the podcast's audience an exciting new format, and help attract new listeners to the work we do. And yeah, this is remote.
Your Responsibilities.
- Edit Audio Version from a selection of clips & tracks.
- Edit Video Version for Podcast YouTube Channel (remote interview captures).
- Publishing to both Libsyn & YouTube.
- Go that extra mile with audio mastering and editing.
- Possible other work; helping organize interviews, creating social posts, co-hosting.
How to Apply.
- Email gigs @ noclip.video with examples of podcast/audio post-production work (required). Tell us about yourself, what software you use, why you want to contribute to Noclip, and give us a ballpark hourly rate. We don't accept free labor and work to pay our contributors fairly.
- Patronage is not a requirement to apply. But familiarity with our work is a plus.
- I'd also like to specifically encourage women, people of color, LGBTQ+ and international applicants to apply as it's our experience in scheduling interviews that these people often need a bit more encouragement to come forward. Here at Noclip we just love working with creative people, no matter who you are.
- Whenever we do this we get an insane amount of responses for our team size so I'll have to warn you in advance that I can't reply to every single application. I can promise that I'll give every application attention & consideration. We will likely reach out to a handful of you to have an interview before we make any selection.
And that's it! If you have any questions please stick them in the comments below and I'll do my best to respond quickly.
Thanks for reading this, I'm excited to see who applies.
