Greetings, Chromatic Warriors! I've been working on Ghazghkull behind the scenes and made a change to his color scheme that I wanted to share.

When I talk about composition I always mention the balancing of light and dark colors, then pairing that with the use cold and warm tones. The idea here is that Ghazghkull, being a dark object, that a light color would make a good base for him and really punch up his presence. But after looking at it with the basecoat of warm gray I thought it looked a bit dead. That color, Vlallejo Deck Tan, was already heavily used on his armor which added to the flatness.

You can see the change I made to the yellow scrap and I think it's much better that way. It still fit into the light vs dark composition but the yellow adds some flare and also black and yellow are often the colors of danger in nature.

Next step on ol Ghazzy will be few layers of weathering powder and we'll see how the dust settles.

Just a bit of theory I wanted to share, it's never to late to make a change as you're working, it's only paint. cheers!

Oh wow, its crazy how much of a difference that makes. I'm still learning this craft so seeing good examples like that surely helps! I appreciate you sharing the journey. Can't wait to see it when its finished. Who knows, it might be the next model I buy. He looks super cool.

Awwyeah, it's all about those little tweaks and my main goal is to have people making informed decisions on their own creative pursuits :) I'll post up the finished pictures this week. I'm a big fan of Orks and can't decide if I should keep this one or not. probably not haha, my cabinet is overfilled.
