The title of these models on the box is Dethax and Elmira but let's be honest, it's Conan. Going on that I've also chosen a name for the princess. Call them what you like, just don't call them late for dinner.

This model offers some fun opportunities for upcoming videos, mainly on a couple skin tones but also a few other fun topics. So let's build up the base! To start I laid out some options, I scoured my supplies, pulled some roots out of the field and got to work!

I knew the rough shape I wanted to create and had decided on a jungle setting. A nice incline to match Conan's footing and some space below for details, such as temple ruins and a small water effect.

Once I was happy with the general shape, some glue was applied and I started layering up my ingredients.

The footing of the model didn't quite match the rounded tree but that's not a problem. I added a step in the form of some corkboard and then disguised it with more heaps of dirt and soy bean roots.

A little more layering and I was happy for now. There are a lot of branches and such spread out on the base so I'm holding off on adding any foliage. When the time comes, I'll be cutting some from a thin sheet of brass. Alternatively you could use some tinfoil or thick paper to create the leaves. In this case though, I'll be putting the model up for sale eventually so a more durable material in the form of the brass sheet will be best.

Here they stand, braving all kinds of jungle hazards in what I can only imagine is an atmosphere far too humid for my taste. But cimmerians are of a heartier stock than today's modern longhair. For now, this model is prepped and ready for some paint!

A very special thank you goes to Andy (Flying Monkey Paints) for gifting me this amazing model. Cheers buddy! :D

Sam, I'm so excited you are finally getting a chance to do this! I really want to see where this goes. That base is already looking amazeballs!

Thanks Andy! It's about time I started this. I think I need to sculpt a head for that snake today. Hope all is well! Let's have a paint jam some time :)

Yeah man, I'm all for it! I'm experimenting with oil paints right now, once I figure that out a little better maybe we can have a call and discuss and play around!
