Again, Stefan took away Damon's choice - Damon enjoyed being a vampire and said several times he couldn't imagine anything more miserable than being human again. He originally made him be a vampire now he's decided Damon should be human. All of the titles of this series episodes were lines from the first series. They didn't need to bring Elena back and have her marry Damon and then they die bla bla. The brothers and Bonnie should have been able to figure a way to make Stefan a vampire again if he chose to be and Damon should have been able to find someone other than Elena to be with. I hate that Stefan married Caroline - they had zero chemistry . Damon's first and last lines in the show were the same - "hello, brother" but the tone was very different. As for Lexi, you're right - she should not be there. She was sucked out of the other side when it collapsed - but remember she said something about spending time there to 'earn her stripes' to move on - maybe those sucked out of the other side went where they were supposed to - like she went on to peace, where people like Markos etc did not. I loved seasons 1, 2, 3, even 4 was good - 5 was okay but not up to the standard of the rest. 6 and 7 had some good eps but a lot of not so good - 8 I liked up till the last couple. Probably though if they'd killed off Damon I would not have watched for the others - most of them were pretty forgettable or average. Stefan was good but broody and Elena was just annoying for most of it. She was more useless as a vampire than as as human. Caroline blech. Enzo had potential but they fucked that up. Bonnie was likeable. Alaric started out as a great character but those last couple of seasons he was rubbish. I think it would have worked better if they were so determined that Elena and Damon marry to have done a full season rather than just 16 episodes and let us see how they got on as humans and without Stefan. LOL as for Matt how the hell he lasted all 8 seasons is beyond me - guess he was too stupid to even die.
