When it comes to the third Admiral that you don't know much about yet. There was a blink and you miss it line back at Enies Lobby where it was stated that he was the Vice Admiral that shot and sunk the ship of civilians at Ohara. So there was one small instance where you saw him before.

Honestly, if I was reacting to Marineford for the first time, I wouldn't have anything to say. When I watched those episodes the first time, my jaw was hanging wide open, my eyes were completely glued to the screen, and I was like, "OK, fuck sleep, I'm binging the entire arc!" If the Enies Lobby arc cemented One Piece as my favorite anime of all time, Marineford put the last nail on the head for me!

actually there is a 2 volume ace light novel that came out not too long ago, the manga is an adaptation of the light novel so I feel like reading the original source would be best. I haven't read those yet so I don't know if they contain spoilers but I'm caught to the manga so nothing can surprise me

When we met Rayleigh and they talked in Shakky's bar he said that Roger was dying from an incurable disease, so he didn't abandon him. He would have died before Ace was born anyway.

If he’s going to read the manga and not the light novel, he should wait till after Marineford. There is the starting panel with Ace and Luffy at the beginning that shouldn’t be seen till after.

Da only thing I will say is Roger didn’t abandon, Ace he had an incurable disease (It’s not a spoiler Rayleigh already told Luffy and crew on Saboady). He would have died before Ace could remember him either way, so he went out on his terms starting the New Pirate era in the process

You can tell how much the series has affected Ruff instead of picking up on the clues and randomly guessing stuff correctly he was blind sided to who Ace’s father was until shown.

There is technically a manga chapter made by Boichi that adapts some of the content from the Ace Novels. Not all of it (yet) though.

It’s a small detail, but I like how each pirate that you see Ace fight after joining Whitebeard in the flashback ended up allying with Whitebeard, as you can see them among all the pirates that arrived to Marineford.

I really think Oda basically told us ace and luffy didnt have the same family back at post enies lobby when garp told luffy who his father was and they didn't show ace when they show Dragon, Luffy and Garp as the strongest family
