About a year ago, my friend, the extremely talented artist, Magmaman, shared with me a series of 3-D renderings he'd composed (loosely inspired by kastamel's short comic "The Fattest Girl in the Office" and the old Dimensions Library story "Secret Admirer" by Em) that never saw the light of day.  In addition to firing up my libido, they fired up my creativity.  I thought it would be a fun challenge to write a new story around them and, surprisingly, "The Middle Manager" came together fairly easy despite the ass-backwards approach.  I credit that to Magma.  He doesn't fancy himself a storyteller (I disagree), but his characters have character and his images are the quintessence of the "show don't tell" ethos.  I thoroughly enjoyed "fleshing out" his office brood!

The story is attached in PDF form.  Magma's 40 illustrations are embedded within the story; however, I've also attached full-size versions of each in the order of their appearance.

Thanks to riptoryx for his editing assistance and thanks to you, our loyal patrons, for helping us reach our goals and making stories like this possible.  Enjoy!  Happy Holidays!

Maverick

Good story, good images. What interests me even more though is where the picture came from that you used in the heading? Any idea?

Hi Jarrod. Glad you enjoyed it! As for the header visual--I just did a Google search for "tape measure" and "waist" and it came up. Unfortunately, I can't remember the site or the context.
