To be honest, as a Japanese I never expected this how to be doing so well in the western country! We Japanese are crazy about the show because how rare it is about content that take on Japanese entertainment industry… especially Idol industry in Japan is really diff with the rest of the world especially K-pop. Anime n the manga tackled the dark side n reality side of how both the majaor Idol industry n underground idol work’s in Japan. People here in Japan are into Idol for their charms n the characters/personality they put in rather than the dance n singing parts as a way to escape from the abusive n toxic work culture until recent years where more idols starting to focus on real music.

Middle school age is roughly 12+ to 14+ years old. As you know, agencies such as the ones in Japan and Korea accept applicants at a young age, train them and then debut them at a suitable age around 15,16,17 etc. For example ive Girls Generation/SNSD debut with most of their members from 15 to 18 years old. They look mature and don't look like children. I mean nowadays teenagers just don't look like their age.
