We met everyone at one of the outside tables after getting our lunch from the lunchroom. They all asked how it went in court.
I told everyone what happened at the sentencing hearing, what the defense attorney and the prosecutor said, and what the judge said.
Sam asked, What did I say to the court? I told them what happened and how it made me feel that I don't like going out alone anymore.
It's over now that Asshole is where he belongs. It's time for me to move on and put all that behind me. So if you want to know more, please ask Jennifer, not me.
Jennifer said Alex did very well. I was so very proud of her for how she handled the whole thing, and she's right, let's not speak of it. It's behind her now; let's look towards the future, and that's what we did. We did our schoolwork, played chess, and most importantly, we helped each other.
The next 14 months were uneventful; we had a great year, and Christmas was enjoyable with great friends around, and we enjoyed each other's company.
I got a lot more clothes, seeing as the hormones Mum was feeding me had made me develop a chest like Mum, who told me she got her chest when she was 13 or 14 years old, and it hasn't changed since then.
Sam and Tom were in the same boat; we all had a C-cup chest, which was fine with me. Jennifer and Julie were a little jealous as they only had a B-cup chest. Julie's mom said she was a late bloomer, so don't worry, Sandra had developed a D cup, which suited her, but I didn't want to grow to that size.
I got depressed now and then, but Jennifer was a great friend and wouldn't let me stay depressed; she'd always pull me out of it.
Jay was a little sad as his big sister hadn't come home since she came out, and Jay thought his mom had told her to stay away. Nikki openly blamed her mother for Steph not coming home. Nikki was concerning him, as Nikki was rebelling against their mother, and he didn't want her to do something foolish.
Jeremey and Sandra kept up the research. Jeremey seemed to take the blame for a lot to protect his siblings, so he was still in a girl's uniform a year later, and Jeremey said it's like I'm wearing my kilt. His brother and sister only had to endure one term in a dress and nappies, but as a result, his sister Merry and brother Paul had changed from very outgoing to private people; they would only talk to their friends who stuck by them through their punishment term and the chess club members. They were very protective of each other and of us members of the chess club too, as we found out when some new boys decided to tease me and Jay.
Paul and Merry, with their friends, took them out and gave them a good kick after school.
Miss Bright couldn't do much as she couldn't prove who did it, as the boys were too scared to squeal on Brent and their friends. Even when they had to spend a month in a girl's uniform for bullying me and Jay, they didn't squeal.
Mum was concerned with me, as I was polite to her, but I wouldn't engage in conversations with her if I could help it. I'd only really have conversations with her if Jennifer was there. We would only involve Mom if we needed her to answer a question.
I would talk to Jennifer freely; we talked about everything from school to fashion and boys. I wasn't into boys, but Jennifer was, and I was a supportive girlfriend. I was a sounding board for her.
The times that Mom was involved with these conversations, she would hint about me going out with a boy, but I'd just ignore her.
I knew I would never be a boy again, barring a miracle. There was no way to reverse what Mom had done to me, so I'm comfortable in my skin, and I do enjoy being pretty, but I still have not come to terms with the possibility of having sexual relations of any kind with a boy, as I still find girls way more attractive than boys.
Jay and Julie seemed to have gotten past their disagreements.
Jay told everyone at the first break that he couldn't find anything with my sister Stephanie's address on it. I'm not giving up. I'm just running out of places to look. I even asked Mum if I could write Steph to see how she's doing, but Mum fogged me off, plus Mum gets grumpy at the mention of Steph's power days.
Julie said instead of looking for a letter, why don't you just write a letter to your sister and put my address on it? That way, if it comes back unopened, we know she isn't there, and if she replies, you can start talking to your sister again. Jay said that's a great idea, but what do I say?
Julie said. Just tell her you heard about the fight between her and your mother from Nikki, and you don't care if she's gay; you still love her as she's your sister. That's all that counts to you, and nothing else matters. You and Nikk miss talking to her, plus mention your concerns about Nikki and how she's acting, and apologize for writing to her this way, but you didn't want to get Nikki or yourself in trouble with your mother, Jay said.
I'll do that now. Jay sat and wrote a letter to his sister for the rest of the break, and by the end of the break, he'd finished it, handed it to Julie, and said we'd just need to address it. Julie said I could get envelopes from our English teacher in our next class, and three weeks after posting them, Jay got a response from his sister; he showed the chess club at the first break as Julie had given it to him before school started. He was so happy to hear from his sister.
Jay read out to us what Steph said in her letter to him: that she was sorry he had to find out about her that way. She had wanted to tell them both herself, but their mother wouldn't let her. She was glad he explained it properly to their sister. And she meant what she said when she came out to their mother: that mom shouldn't feminize you just to get money; it's wrong, and you could get her charged with child abuse for making you dress as a girl. Steph asked Jay to look after their sister Nikki, tell her that she loves and misses talking to her, and tell her to protect you from mom. She's going to try and come home next break if Mom lets me, that is.
We were all happy that Jay and his sister were talking, but that statement she made about getting paid to feminize her son all made us stop talking and look at Jay, but he was so happy that he didn't notice.
When he looked up from the letter, he saw our faces and asked, What? I said, What shouldn't your mother do? Jay looked at us, then at the letter again, and it hit him, and he said my mother gets paid to do this to me, that fucking bitch. I said yes, and I wonder if mine and the other mothers get paid for doing this.
Julie spoke, then I think we need to speak to my mother, as she knows all about you all. When she found out about Alex and what her mother was doing to her, she wanted to call the police, but I told her to please talk to you all first before she did anything, as I believe we need to get all the evidence we can before we do anything, otherwise, they will destroy everything that could implicate them.
I agree with Julie, but how are we going to get everyone together without raising a flag for the mothers?
Sandra asked, Do you think all of you would be allowed to go to a sleepover birthday party? We all looked at each other at the strange question and said yes. Sandra said. So tomorrow you'll all get an invite to my birthday party, which is next week, but the party is on Saturday. I was only going to invite my cousins and the girls from the chess club.
Jeremey is coming to do the music. I just need another parent for a sleepover. Julie clicked to what Sandra was doing and said, Well, my mom is on days off next weekend, so I'll ask her if she will be the second chaperone.
Sandra said we've got a legitimate reason for everyone to talk freely to Miss Robinson without the mother's questioning it.
Jay said, How come Jeremey gets to go and I don't?
Sandra said don't be daft; of course, you're coming; you're one of the girls, aren't you?
You're being feminized, aren't you? Jeremey is only in a dress at school; that's why he's doing the music. Jay went red and said sorry. I misunderstood. I'm a bit slow sometimes.
Julie told him not to put himself down. I know you're smart; it's just that you've been by yourself for so long, and that's my fault, not yours. Jay told Julie yes, you did something wrong, but the only person who is really at fault is my mother. For the rest of the day, we made out that we were playing chess, but we were tossing around ideas about finding out about Florence House, from flat-out asking Steph about it to sending one of our girls in to find out about the house.
The next day we met at Ben's bench before school like normal, where we just talked about shit, but at the first break, Sandra handed each of us a letter with an invitation to her girls-only birthday party and sleepover.
Julie said her mom will definitely be the second chaperone at the party, but she really wants to talk to all of you.
Sandra said my mother wants in as well as she wants your mothers to be put in jail, as mothers are supposed to protect their children and not use them for financial gain.
Jay said I may have to bring Nikki along. Sandra said that'd be alright as my younger cousins are coming as well, and she can hang with them.
Jay said that would keep her away from Mom, as I showed her the letter from Steph last night in her room, and she read about feminizing me for money.
I almost had to sit on her to stop her from going downstairs to attack Mom. I cooled her down by telling her to write a letter to Steph and I'd get it to her.
I'm going to write another letter today.
Jay then asked Julie, "Do you think your mom would let Steph stay at your place if mom won't let Steph stay at home?" Julie said, "I'm pretty sure she'd be okay with it, but I'll call her now." She pulled out her phone and called her mom to ask. Julie had to give her a quick explanation of why Jay is trying to find somewhere for his sister to stay.
Julie said thanks, Mom, and hung up. She then turned to Jay and said your sister is welcome to stay at our place anytime she needs to.
Jay thanked Julie and said I'll tell Steph in this letter that I've asked my friend's mother if she could stay with them, and they said my sister could stay with them anytime she wants, so if Mum won't let her stay at home, she can stay with them.
So that's what Jay did: he wrote a long letter to Steph, then he and Julie put it in an envelope, and they put Nikki's letter in as well, then posted it.
We all had been nosy around our homes the previous month, especially on Wednesdays, when our moms all seemed to be doing something different. My mom was talking to her lawyer, or so she said. The mothers had been doing this for the last 2 months. Every Wednesday, they'd say they had to do something and we'd have to get home on the bus. The first couple of weeks, we thought they were wise to us looking and even got Jeremey to look for cameras, but he found none.
We'd looked everywhere else, and since Sandra's party was this weekend, we decided to search their offices today.
I discovered in my house that there was only one place to store stuff: the garage and the pictures that I'd been looking for were nowhere in the house or garage. I got Jennifer to help me as I checked out Mum's room and then her office, which finally got me something.
Mum had a company named FEMink.co, and the only thing they had was a storage unit, a large one about the size of an average 4-bedroom unit in an industrial area about 10 minutes away. I only found that out because the company file was on her desk with the latest bill for the storage unit on top of it. The filing cabinet was locked, so I couldn't find out anything more, but I'd arranged for Sandra and Jeremey to be close by.
Sandra was going to be outside as a lookout, and Jeremey came inside as he really wanted to look at Mom's computer upon entering my house. Jeremey said I'm already into your mom's PC; she should really turn it off when she's not using it. So while you've been looking around, I've been looking around your mom's computer, but she mostly uses it for her stock portfolio, to pay bills, and to send emails. I'll have to get Jay to have a look, as investment portfolios are his thing, but it looks like your mom is okay with it, Alex, but not great.
Once Jeremey had finished with the computer, he walked over and slid two pins into the lock, twisted his wrist, and the filing cabinet was open. Then he went back to the computer.
We started going through the filing cabinet. I found the bank statements, and the first thing I noticed was that in last month's statement, 7 million pounds were paid into Mum's account by a company by the name of FEMSISTERHOOD. p t y. l t d
I looked at the month before that, but there was no other payment there or the month before that, so I looked at the same month last year, and there was another payment of 7 million pounds from the same company.
Jennifer went through the bills paid file and she found out that Mum was a member of the same gym as her mother, and once a month she had lunch at a high-end restaurant in the next shire. She also went to Cambridge every 6 months, and Jennifer knew her mother did the same thing every 6 months. They'd have to get Jay over to check all this stuff out so he would make more sense out of it all this investment stuff. Jennifer also found the bank statements for the last 7 years, and Miss Bea has been receiving 7 million pounds at the same time every year for the past 5 years.
I noticed Jeremey was going around the room and putting little objects in the corners or dark spots in the room.
I asked, What was he doing?
Jeremey said the same as I've done at the other offices: they'll let us know what goes on in here from now on.
I'll also know what she's doing on her computer. With luck, she'll never know we were here. With that, we headed over to Sam and Tom's place, as they were doing the same thing.
which was made easier by Nikki's help; she didn't ask why, but when we asked her to help, she'd always help.
We first asked Nikki to watch out for Ben's sister Beth.
Nikki soon told Jay that Beth's mother was really upset about money after Ben left but not concerned about where he was, and when the police told her that Ben didn't want to talk to her, she got upset and demanded that the police tell her where Ben was. The police told her that Ben was 18 and an adult, so he didn't have to talk to her, but maybe at a later date, they could reconcile with each other.
Nikki also told Jay that Beth blamed her mother for Ben's leaving, and they were becoming good friends.
Today Nikki was distracting Josie, Jasmine, Sam, and Tom's sisters with Beth's help by taking them out for chocolate and ice cream at the ice cream shop opposite the gym so the girls could sit and eat as they watched the guys work out.
Even if neither of them knew why, they just knew it was against their mothers, and that's all they cared about.
Jeremey had already hacked into Sam's and Tom's mom's computers and knew everything that was on their PCs. Sam and Tom were going through the filing cabinet at Tom's house as they had already gone through Sam's mom's office when they got the text from Jeremey telling them they were on their way to them. Sam replied, telling them where they were and that they were finishing up, and they'd meet them in the park.
Jay was busily searching his mother's filing cabinet as Jeremey had slipped into the house this morning to get into the computer and found Jay's mom's laptop open and running in her office doing an update. He quickly found out they were set up to talk to each other, so he made sure the laptop was included in his hack and then left.
Jay found the bank statements and saw the payment from FEMSISTERHOOD. p t y. L t d
He also found that his mom had a company by the name of FEMink.co, and they only had a storage unit when the phone in his knickers vibrated, telling him to meet the others in the park. Soon, lucky he learned how to tuck; otherwise, the vibration of the phone would have him tenting his skirt, but it was the only place that the girls had found that their mothers wouldn't feel or search for.
Jay checked his phone, then put it back in his knickers, made sure everything was as he left it, then walked out to Julie, who was his lookout, and then they headed to the park.
As the four of us headed to the park, I said, "I'm glad we did your place yesterday, Jennifer."
Jennifer said yes. I think doing all the houses in one day would have been pushing it. Jeremey agreed that she would have been pushing it.
We got to the picnic tables in the center of the park and set up our chessboards. I have my own now, as Jennifer got it for me for Christmas. We could see the others approaching from opposite sides of the park when they got there. Julie said she'd let Nikki know they were in the park playing chess. She got an OK text, then she got another one from a number she didn't know.
She smiled and handed the phone to Jay. When he looked at the message, his face lit up, and he asked Julie, How did Steph get your number? Julie answered him, and I put a contact details card with my information on it in the last letter we sent. I asked, Is it from your sister Jay? He nodded yes, then asked Julie, Can I use your phone? Julie said, Of course, you can. Jay called his sister and moved a short distance away so he could talk to her. I asked, What did the text say?
Julie said she just said, "Hi, this is Steph Jay's sister. Can you get him to call me anytime, day or night?" I'll answer. Jennifer said that's great. Sam asked, Do we wait for Jay? I said yes, we'll just play until he comes back.
15 minutes later, Jay walked back, handed the phone to Julie, and said Steph wants to talk to you.
Julie took the phone back and swallowed hard, then said hello, then smiled as Steph said something.
Julie said yes, the invitation is real; it's from my mother; she's a nurse, and she looked after Alex when she was in the hospital.
Steph said something?
Julie Yes, when that happened.
Steph said something?
Julie, You have my address. Steph, you are welcome anytime. Just give me a text when you're coming, and I'll let Mum know.
Steph said something?
It's fun listening to half a conversation.
Julie then said, "Anytime, bye for now," and then hung up her phone. Julie said this to us all, but mainly to Jay. Steph said. She may come back home for the weekend and stay with us, seeing as your mother has banned her from the house until after she graduates. Jay had tears in the corners of his eyes. Sam decided to change the subject and said Tom and I found out our mothers have a company by the name of FEMink.co, and the only thing the company owns is a storage unit. Alex said so does my mother, and it has the same name and a storage unit over near the canals. Tom said that's where Mom's unit is. Jay said so does my mom.
Jennifer said so does my mom, and my mom goes to Cambridge every 6 months, and so does Miss Bea. Also, 6 years ago, my mother was receiving 5 million pounds every year for 5 years from FEMSISTERHOOD. p t y. L t d.
Miss Bea has been receiving 7 million pounds for the past 5 years from the same company.
Sam said. Her mother and Tom's mother received 5 million pounds the first year, but for the last 4 years, they've received 7 million pounds a year from the same company. Jay said my mom has been doing all of that, but she's only gotten 5 million pounds for the past 3 years. Julie asked, How come there's a difference in money? Tom said that's easy.
Sam Alex and I are taking hormones. Jay and John aren't taking any hormones or weren't taking any in John's case. That's why the difference exists. Jennifer asked, Do all the mothers go to Cambridge every 6 months? Everyone nodded yes. Jennifer then asked, Do your mothers go to Gianni's once a month there in the next shire? We all nodded yes, and do they all belong to the Thigh Busters gym? We all nodded yes again.
Jeremey said there are all partners in this company, FEMink.co, and the only asset the company has is a storage unit. They all go to Cambridge every six months at the same time. They all belong to the same gym. They all go to the same Italian restaurant, Gianni's, in the next town once a month, and they are all doing something every Wednesday, but they're telling you they're doing different things.
We all agreed with Jeremey. Jeremey then said we have a good circumstantial case that they know each other but no hard proof that they know each other; that's the key or one of the keys.
Julie said it wasn't FEMink. proof that they know each other.
Jeremey said no, it isn't, as they could have arranged all that online and never met each other. As for going to the same college and clubs, that doesn't mean they know each other. I go to school with over 300 students, and I only know about 20, so we need to keep digging.
