Darkstalkers / Vampire Savior WIP (Patreon)

I was hoping to have more progress on this by today or so, but it is kind of a neat year to do Darkstalkers something- since it's the 25th anniversary for the series.

This will take some poking and prodding (was already doing a ton since it's initial thumbnails)

Here's the initial physical sketch / thumbnail:

I adjusted the character proportions because the contrast between the more distant characters and the closer ones didn't feel dramatic enough and was just a non-commital blob. I think even for group pictures, there generally should be a focus, or some sort of clear compositional shape. At least, that's the reasoning I had for where it stands currently. Hopefully it feels ok as it is further fleshed out.

I've never done a group shot of the whole crew, though it feels difficult to do any of them justice when it's all of them. I should try to do more individual character pieces ...! (As I type this, I think I'll add something to the poll for this month's illustration... oho)

On a related tangent, here's another composition I was thinking about, but am not entirely satisfied with, either lol. Though, if you feel like you like this one more, feel free to let me know owo/
