Thank you to those who recently joined (and of course, those who already signed up!) I'm flattered and in awe of the support, and will try to update content as frequently as I can.

I haven't posted any Fallout stuff in a while, so I figure some raw sketch notes might be fun to put up, as I have a ton of them, but rarely scan or show them. But, I suppose that is one of the things this Patreon would be about!

Fallout is an original character of mine, it's for a story set in a post apocalyptic / dystopian future whose culture is heavily influenced by their knowledge of the 80's and 90's lol.

Most prominently, the presence of an element known as the Black Flame has caused an uprising of mutants, who are in constant conflict with human survivors, monsters of all sizes, and other mutants.

One such mutant is the cockroach-mutant girl, Fallout, who likes to live life by her own rules, both adhering and rejecting her cockroach-like tendencies of tenacity and survival instincts. She runs into a mysterious mutant named Blackbody, and further adventures ensue.

Also, I guess I'm still being vague haha, but the details of that encounter I'll try to cover in a proper story-telling format later on! m(_)m;

It's a fun excuse to draw ridiculous looking shape-based characters and/or give them exceedingly stupid names. The whole ordeal's going to be rather self-indulgent hehe~

I love how dynamic you are with Fallout's poses even at this raw design state! All this material looks like it was very fun to draw! Pardon my inexperience, but what exactly do you mean by shape-based characters? How does that method effect how you design characters in comparison to how you (for lack of a better word) normally would?

I really like to see your sketches and your process! I used to think Fallout was "meh" some months ago, but once I started to really pay attention to her and her world, I fell in love. Love her clothes, design, proportions and pretty much everything else

Hm, I guess technically I shouldn't need to specifically make the distinction since the sentiment behind that statement would apply to any character design, but a lot of times people might define a character by just what their clothing or hairstyle is. I mean, that already assumes they are wearing clothing, have hair, or are even vaguely humanoid. It's kind of cool to almost think of a character like a symbol or icon, or just knowing what certain shapes and features convey in a design- like if they are proud, or heavy, or agile, or mysterious, etc. Certain shapes evoke those types of assumptions, and it's cool to kind of think of characters at that level, if that makes sense.

Cool, I'm hoping that revealing that part of the process can help people understand the intent and where they are coming from. But, I'm glad you like the character! Though, I definitely don't blame anyone who doesn't- I'm fully aware that it'd be a fairly polarizing design, and/or an acquired taste. It is a bit self-indulgent haha, but I'd also see if I can do other ideas alongside it, just in case. It's really fun to think about though, for sure- so the support is much appreciated m(___)m
