This GIF, recorded in October 2021, was one of the last things I worked on before the visual overhaul that took place between November and April. The intent for this room was to demonstrate the water and goop effects, as both took quite a while to get working.

So, what is this goop? I had been wanting to design a free-from hazard that could take up large sections of the screen without the animation noise from the sawblades. Even though it might not be functionally different from a room covered in spikes, it feels different because it's just one large hazard, and not a million little things. 

Oh, right, this GIF also shows off water! The demo originally would've featured water in the hub, but I wasn't happy with the lack of effects. Namely, there are no sounds or splashes when you enter / exit water, and no visual indication for a swim "stroke". Water will return to the hub in a Patreon build eventually, though!

The goop- directly inspired by (and using a texture from) Super Mario Sunshine- hasn't been quite cut yet either, but it'll likely undergo some visual changes the next time you see it.
