These images were taken of my soulmate Kat in my studio in Denver, Colorado in January 2018. At the time I was planning on going to graduate school at SVA in NYC for a masters in professional studies in digital photography (although once I was accepted and applied for financial aid to help pay the 60k it costed for the one year program, i found out that I wasn't allowed to borrow the money - which was a blessing in disguise because with the time i spent in the city for this past 1.7 years I was able to focus on supporting myself, staying healthy, modeling, and having  myriad of art shows that i would otherwise not have had the time or money for - thereby making sales and connections - i also attended and still do attend the bi-weekly SVA seminars [i3 lecture series] to learn about successful photographers lives and careers). I was slightly concerned or rather pensive about how to make the transition out of expansive natural surroundings to working in a bigger city. I had finally, after much soul searching, realized that I wanted to focus my full attention and life on my art, or at least try, after years of playing and self-discovery. I was and still do live by following my heart, remembering that we miss 100% of the chances we do not take. I don't want to live with any regrets, never knowing what would've happened if i pursued my passion, art. I had the epiphany that I could still work within the realm of my dominant narrative - humans & nature - by bringing them together in a different way. Rather than shooting nude humans in nature, i realized that I could shoot naked people in a studio or indoors when necessary and then overlay the body with photographs of animals and nature / plants that I take on a separate occasion. This shoot with Kat was the first of its kind. An intention and reminder to proceed with this idea in the years moving forward. Now, in addition to my nudes in nature and mixed media, I create human nature overlays using this methodology.
