This series encapsulates a healing voyage into the desert. I visited New Mexico on a solo-journey down south during the spring of 2024, attempting to heal my mind and body from a continuation of accrued trauma. This trip began with the solar eclipse and ended with a prolonged self-portrait series, including these moments captured in White Sands, New Mexico. I am continuously drawn to these lands of the South West, stemming from visions of white light and vestiges of past lives. As I search for meaning in my life and in the world at large, I always find solace in the sand, desert, ocean, in the nature of all things. We are the earth.

These sand dunes are made up of gypsum, which is an energetic and healing crystalline element, also known as selenite. As I practiced grounding and earthing, placing my entire body, bare skin on the surface of the earth, I absorbed the negative ions of the earths surface and recharged the electrical battery that is my body. The full moon began rising overhead as the sun was setting. I felt my heart begin to smile for the first time in a while. I am safe. My body is my home. My body is the earth. Space will be my home. The earth breaths through our lungs. The rivers the veins, running waters are the blood of the earth, the sand our skin. We share the air, breathing together. We are all one.
