I notest that you are kind of sensitive (?) About teasing lol I dont know how to word that correctly. But I dont think is not enough of a big deal for him to feel bad about It, hyori has this type of humor of must Korean Variety shows haver, I notest that as well

I think Jjajangmeyon is Chinese food but in Korean style! Thats why they are getting it in a Chinese restaurant in Korea!! Its not fully Chinese food but its sort of a mix between chinese and korean.

As a Chinese person, I would say that Korean Jjajan is already 70% Korean XD, you can see the origin but it differs from the original (zhajiang) quite a bit. Doesn't mean it's not good tho, I am sure it is tasty

I think its quite cultural thing. Teasing or caring. As a korean for me even though it is joke or tease but in context it is included worrying and caring. Yeah maybe it could be offensive, but for example, many koreans ask like why you look so tired today? Stuff like these but i heard that some of my foreign friend couldn’t understand and feel offensive about talking other’s face or outlooking or status. But for us it could be caring or worrying. People by people but most of koreans ask or make joke about status, behavior or outlook but its quite an expression of showing interests or caring friends or people. But there are also pros and cons. Pros: caring and have interests to friends and try to be closed and friendly cons: take care and too much interests about other people. Like many koreans do make up when they are going outside or try to be looked fine in front of other people, cause they think also many people have thinkings and interests to other people the way they have.

Plus, if hyori or sangsoon said, why your legs look so thin ? You look so weak this quite of expression, it is surely offensive and very rude cause there are no relations. Also many korean viewers could feel the same. But he was sick and went to the emergency room in hospital, so it is quite joke but inside worrying and taking care to him

I am surprised that you think it's teasing.... maybe it is culture thing.. there is no joke at all about his sick. Hyori and sangsoon really care of him... i wonder why are you think they teasing him?

Jajangmyeon, Jjampong, Tangsuyuk etc. are actually Chinese dishes although Chinese restaurants in Korea modified their recipe to fit the korean palate. Also about the teasing, it is so normal in Korea especially variety shows. I'm now curious as to how the western people take on "Teasing" because it seems you're quite sensitive to it but it is understandable because although it is normal for most asian culture, I know some people who can't take being teased well.

I've read your comments about my reaction to the teasing thing and yeah most likely it's a cultural difference. I was viewing it more from a standpoint of social dynamics in a group of friends. For example me and my friends tease eachother a lot as well, and it's all in good fun because 1) we know that we actually do care and appreciate eachother, 2) the person being teased usually comes back with some kind of joke/tease at the person who is teasing, so it feels more like a friendly and playful banter, rather than one-sided teasing. At the same time I've been in other situations where if a person starts getting teased and does not reply to it in any way, often times they become a permanent target of these jokes and teases and from a social dynamics standpoint it doesn't look too good. So in this case because everyone was teasing him but he wasn't replying I felt that he might've been a little uncomfortable. Or perhaps I just imagened myself in his place, where I'd go to the hospital cuz of some food poisoning and then everyone would start teasing me about that. I would see that as them implying that I have bad health or that I'm weak, so I wouldn't really take nicely to that. But again I see that they didn't mean it in a bad way, they actually cared about him. It's just that this expression of affection was pretty unusual to me

Lol Aaron i feel the same way the first time i came here in korea..its unusual for me too being teased infront of my co workers..they used to joke around of me looking tired of not having a make up but as time goes by that i know each of their personality i come to realized that korean people seems very verbal and quite forward in expressing their thoughts..im a sensitive person and i had a hard time dealing with it at first. Now its so fascinating to me coz im getting along now with them being my mental care if im homesick ;)
