PAB - Ship Designs (Patreon)

I’ve finally at the place I want to be to turn this Power Armored Bunnies (working title) project into something real. I have a lot written, but now I need to design the things I actually have described, starting with spaceships. I love drawing tech, but there is a challenge when you get into the nitty gritty details. As to the form the project will take, I'm thinking of probably separating it from this Patreon, and perhaps giving it a Patreon of its own for those who specifically want me to devote time to it. Basically, with Patreon doing so well, here, I can devote less time to YCHs, and more time to these kinds of creative things.

Pretty. Our (human) sense of aesthetics have been shaped by growing up in a world with a thick atmosphere, so sleek/streamlined is good. An exoatmospheric bad-ass battleship would probably look like a warthog would look compared to a cheetah--all bumps and angles for FTL mass-cancelling arrays, energy-based and physical shielding, and armament both obvious and hidden, the ugly pig with the razor-like tusks. No need for smooth lines when the thickest cloud you'll go through is interstellar gas. But I doubt you're going there, even though warthogs have a beauty all their own ;).

Sweetness. Any model ship designated kobold is something that I want. So far this is looking like an interesting project, one which I am eager to learn more about. Curious, given the last few pics you've done of her is Midnight going to play a part in this series/story?

All I can say about this is good for you that you have free time to work on other project such as this. I hope it is pretty good to read but it probably will when I see it so good luck working on this.

If the red pandas are on tech support, it's gonna be Kerbal Space Program all over again :P Will the different species be different powers, or will it be more of a homogeneous mix?

The species have their own identifiable cultures and home planets, the home planets aren't like most space stuff where they're all one "nation" but instead are divided into their own countries, subraces, and cultural influences. But there are also alliances that bring the different types together in space.

Sounds promising! The lack of 'one world government' sounds more realistic and will no doubt lead to lots of political backstabbing and bedroom deals. The engineer in me is more excited to see the groundside architecture. For example, I'd imagine that the otters make homes in the wetlands and shorelines. Their structures would be radically different from, say, the bunnies or the equines. And how do they accomodate interspecies visitors? (Not you Rachel. We know how you accomodate interspecies visitors.) Sorry if I squee'd a bit, I just see so many different ways this could be implemented!
