Well, it's clear he's a badass barbarian ala Conan. I always thought Horsemen would be a great analog for the sort of rough badass ideal barbarians in fantasy setting exude. And she's clearly his smart companion. Maybe in love, maybe not, but both travel together as he uses his brute equine strength and she uses her intelligence for them to get through problems and seduce civilians... I write too much.

wasn't there an equine girl character who wore a chain mail bikini and was sort of a take off on Conan's Red Sonya? Red Shetland ?

I'd been studying ancient weapons and there's a purpose to the design that flows from it's practical application. So if I give them that, I'd have to ask why they have swords shaped that way.
