Hey there!

So lately I've spent some time on trying to create some original music for the game.

As you probably know, it's hard to get any decent sounding music and loops. I've no music training and to make it I just use free samples that I cut and piece together and I use free online instruments. Unfortunately it takes time. Not every idea is a good sounding idea. I would say one out of a three music sessions are somewhat successful, providing me with something I'm happy with. That's why lately I've been looking into some other ways of getting music to the game.

What, in your opinion should I do regarding music?

- Continue working on making my own music. This option is the one I'm using right now. This assures that Secret Care Cafe has original music and I'm learning. The biggest problem here is that it takes time. There is one thing that I always keep in mind. Best Solo Indie Devs were originally music creators. That's something that keeps me motivated to try and make my own tracks.

- Use royalty free music, but spent time researching different kind of creators to find fitting ones. This is the easiest and fastest one - looking around the web for some good sounding tunes and putting them in the game. The big disadvantage here is that many others can use the same music in their games so no originality here. Also, we won't be able to modify the files so what I will find is what we get.

- Look around and contact some music creators, pay them for creating music for the game.  I am putting the game music into the hands of people that should know what they are doing. But this option has a big problem, what if I won't like what they made? I though about trying out few cheap music creators on Fiverr for starters, to get a feeling how do you work with them and what can they create.

There is no 'good' answer here. Everything has it ups and downs. I just wanted to hear your opinions, maybe this will help me decide the best course of action. Also if you will vote for royalty free, it doesn't mean I won't sit down and try to create other tracks of music on my own. I still will want to try making something original.

Poll will go on for 2 weeks. You can chose more than one option.

Have a great week everyone! Thank you for your help, support and votes!

I love the music already in SCC and the upgrades BGM is an absolute banger. You could do a combination of 1 and 3 - I think a lot of us appreciate the work you did already music wise. With 3 you can get tips and pointers to efficiently make your own like other creators or just have them collaborate for a background piece or two - more of their work is great. I like your music work though, take your time if you have to!

I am with KuraScropia on this. Mostly option 1, but with the option to go for 3 when you feel stuck or want to save time on a set of specific tracks.

Music isnt an important factor for me so it's really up to you, I just hope that it doesn't impede the other main aspects of the game that much you know? at the end of the day this is an adult game

Well, of course everything takes time. But music creation won't be responsible for lack of updates. I do want to at least a little represent current situation so sometimes I move in time scenes I do want to show because I might be missing correct music. But it won't create situation that lack of it will make me stuck in development.

You can try to find newly created groups that will be happy to advertise their music in your game. It will be mutually beneficial cooperation.

Hmm. You see, some people don't want to have anything to do with nsfw games even for money. But it's an interesting idea. Do you know of any places where you can look up 'newly created bands' ? Wouldn't hurt me to check them out and email them.
