I'm having so much fun with these functional props lately , I've finally decided to bring to life another idea I had quite a while back but never managed to get to :)

As some of you know i’m a huge harry potter fan, so wizarding gear is always fun for me to work on

I’ve seen people attempt these “light up” wands, but they always look so huge and the LED is exposed so it doesn't really look magical. So my idea was to make a wand that on the outside looks like a regular wand, not too big, no visible (or at least detectable) buttons , but can perform some magic when we need it.

I’ve designed an electronics box/housing for some small batteries and push button, and hidden the led at the tip on the inside of the wand, while designing the “wand tip” in a way it will be still strong enough but will also allow some light to “travel” through it, causing a light up tip effect, as we have seen in the movies and the recent hogwarts legacy game.

Now, not gonna lie, you will get frustrated a bit when building it, but only bcs the parts are so tiny, and there is some soldering involved, but the end result is well worth it. It's the closest thing we have to a real magic wand :D

Complete step by step build guide as well links to parts are included. So are the stl files and 3mf files.

You can use this in tons of ways, simulate wand fights, lumos, cast spells, you name it :)

Im having an extremely hard time getting the light up into the wand end. The tolerance is really tight

That means your printer is not well calibrated or filament is bad bcs there is 0.5 mm tolerance from the widest edge of the led into all directions. In my print i can easly add the led in/out, the led actually falls out on its own if i tilt it back. If you drop me a message i can show you a video how much space there actually is, or you can send your photos/video so we figure it out :)

Are there any differenr/easier wires/connectors to use for this build? Bending the pins into hooks is just making them snap for me, or they break off once inside the wand and disrupt the circuit.
