NGL having characters go up against copies has always been an interesting plot device to me. Thematically nothing is more satisfying than outdoing your own copy. Granted, the stuff with Sense is wild lol. Like previous comments has said, the difficulty of the test is justified for what Sense is looking in First Class mages.

I think since Edel (the girl who tried to mind control Sense) said "They don't have minds". The copies aren't going to have emotion, therefore wont fall for mimics or loved ones. So I'm assuming that Fern has a real plan to kill Frieren using everyone. But just my guess
