Paul is 34 years old while ghislaine is 40 years old so the mysterious swordsman that picked up ghislaine when she was young cant be paul

After this pair of episodes chronologically goes the OVA, then 17-18, OVA introduce character for s2 and tells how Eris goblin work gone. (also laughed hard for goblin slayer reference in EP first time see this)

Some clarifications: You did get pick up, Rudy is disconnected from family, due his previous life. But mom was a S -rank adventurer. He did not know about the teleportation disaster, and from Zant port - things go went wrong with smugglers, if he wasn't captured - he eventually see the message. So I'd like a no spoiler answer to my questions, if that applies. If the anime/manga is going to eventually answers my question, please just say that it answers my question. I've only watched the anime. If I remember correctly Paul is at the Advanced Rank for 3 different sword fighting styles. Would that be considered stronger than someone that is Advanced Rank in only one discipline (sword/magic)? Could he match up against someone that is ranked Saint or higher in another discipline? *I'll also post this as a standalone comment*

1. Yes, variety of skills can be considered stronger. 2. It depends. If don't go too deep in this territory, all 3 sword styles working like rock-paper-scissors.

No and yes. It depends on the user on how they utilize three different styles and also a lot of different factors but someone who is advanced in 3 sword styles would surely beat someone who is only advanced in one technique because these 3 techniques are something like rock paper scissors. You specialize in rock? I'll use paper against you. In terms of paul fighting someone who is saint tier in one style, it will be an even match so paul can win or maybe the saint tier would win but against king tier, paul ultimately loses. This is also probably why the author put Ghislaine in king tier to solidify that being advanced on 3 styles is not enough to defeat a king tier. Against king or saint magicians, it is a very different discussion. A wizard also being capable of king or saint tier spells doesn't mean all the spells they will be using are at those level, it just means they're capable of casting one or two king/saint magic. For example Rudeus can cast cumolunimbus but have you ever seen him use it in battle yet?

With advanced in all 3 he could definetly match against another advanced if not fight and beat a Saint
