I like how each of those stront looking characters are their own color like orange, pink, yellow, and there hairs are like different flower types. It is a cool way to differentiate them.

When she said "you have to be alive to become Tan", she was talking about the elixir. The inhabitants of the island call the elixir "Tan." The Tensen (the ones that are OP and can regenerate) make more elixir by turning living humans into flowers. The flowers make up the elixir. Since the Tensen in this episode found Tenza annoying, he/she decided that it wasn't worth the trouble of keeping him alive to make more elixir.

I haven't read the manga. There was a conversation when the main cast were in that village with Groot and the little girl. It was episode 7, at around 14 minutes.
