That's kinda the ongoing joke. You gotta realize Cid has absolutely no idea what is going on ever lmao. He sorta does things that either ends up making sense to others or something that turns the plot in a new direction. It's sometimes hard to realize the dynamic but there's a whole story unfolding around Cid yet Cid is always 100% playing around goofing off. Because Cid is also the main character we often never really get to see the story from everyone else's pov. That's why ep 12 felt like a lore drop because it detracted from Cid for a while just enough to actually see some of the story behind the Cid barrier. Cid also uses his earthly knowledge a lot to predict plot points within his world. You'll see this often in his dialogue that may come off as random fluff text but there's a joke and some truth behind it... For example: When Cid says "I cannot draw this sword" because he's from earth like us we're aware of stories with swords stuck in the ground and how only the chosen one can pull it. So he played into that bit. So aurora was surprised he knew that because that's not common knowledge in this world. Same dynamic with Alpha, Cid being aware of story tropes and playing into them to look cool works because in this world "tropes" are well not tropes but just actions that make sense... It's sorta this weird self fourth wall break... Sorry for the wall of text lmaoo
