I think as a parent this episode hits you more. Gardar left all that behind for a better life for his family, but missed seeing his son grow up, his wife waiting for him. Vinland Saga is peak

He wasn't really a good person. I mean he agreed to go murder people from another village because they found an iron deposit or whatever? That alone makes me think he got what he deserved. Then to add to that his actions directly led to the death of his son and the enslavement of his wife and him. Can you imagine how much harder it would have been for Arnheid? She probably watched what happened to her son in person and then what do you think those male warriors did to her after? If anything I feel terrible for her. Ah and dont forget about the lighting horses tails on fire bit.

Ok so gardar made a very grave and stupid mistake which all humans make mistakes . He didn’t just agree to murder innocent people, there was a squabble for iron between villages and he agreed to join the fight. Yes, gardar made a mistake which he thought was a good idea and regrets , but to say that he is a bad person is just wrong . Very odd how you don’t feel any sympathy towards gardar

When i read the manga a few years back i cried, when i watch the episode it was sad almost cried but i didn't but man when i saw Mel cried my eyes just started to teared up none stop. I think it's most likely that you guys are parents and can relate that made me cry more tho
