Hey there,

I've been thinking a lot recently about the pricing model I use here on Patreon. My goal has always been to provide the maximum value to my readers while staying true to the value I give my work, my time and effort. This affects everything from commissions to the pricing of Limited-Time Tiers and the number of pages I publish per month on the Main Page. 

Lately I've noticed a couple things. Firstly, I've had many fans asking for more free or "unlocked" content, which has led me to consider introducing a new, free/public tier for content. All of the content there would be viewable by subscribers at every other level, and as it would be public, none of it would be very explicit. It would mainly exist so there's something to look at when you visit my page if you're not already subscribed -- to entice casual fans to subscribe for one of the higher tiers. 

Secondly, I've noticed the reaction to the new Enchantress: Remastered chapter has not been as enthusiastic as I'd hoped. Do you feel the chapter is overpriced? Is its current price point keeping you from pledging? Again, I have a system for pricing these tiers, but with crowdfunding there's always the chance of greater profit at a lower price point.

As always, I want to thank all of you for your support. And generally, I'd just like to open up the discussion to anyone who has thoughts, comments or questions about the pricing model I'm currently using. I want maximum transparency and want all of you to get the best deal possible.

I personally think your pricing for the exclusives are pretty fair considering how much you put into them (plus it's good to support solo artists). As far as submission agenda goes, I feel like I know what content to expect from them, therefore I save my money for the ones I know are gunna be a different type of explicit like mandrill or baba-set...because their writing is different and their physiques offer a lot more range in terms of the twists and actions in the stories. I hope this counts as constructive criticism rather than negative feedback.

No, that's totally fair! Great insight. I figure many people may be hesitant to splurge on Remastered work if they feel like they've already read it in its earlier form or it's not as fresh as Mandrill or some other, different protagonist. Thanks for your thoughts!

Honestly, given that the Enchantress chapter is a remake of something we've already seen before, it does feel a little overpriced, as opposed to the previous special tier of Two Blondes, which was a completely new work.

Thanks for your feedback! I assumed some people would feel this way. I totally get that. Fundamentally I still put in the work of inking shading and rewriting 38 pages of story, plus adding entirely new sequences, so I feel compelled to ask for this price. But I may consider a price cap on chapters in the future. I don’t want anyone to feel like I’m ripping them off.

I would recommend doing one at a time to completion. Having two releases at a time can be a bit much because they're both in B&W and it takes time to create quality content on time. Also some fans might wait for the color reworks before purchasing so that might be a consideration too. Well i paid for Mandrill and i can't wait for the release!

I'll start off by saying that I've already signed up for the two story tier for this month. So please take that into consideration as you read through the rest of this. From a buyer's perspective, it really comes down to what you want. For me, I like the story and the mythos of Miles. A shaded/"remastered" version of an existing the story doesn't fill in the gaps in Miles story, so it normally would get a pass from me, however this is one of my top 3 favorites from the original set I decided to splurge a bit, but I'll admit it did seem like a larger price tag than normal. Honestly, if it were any of the others (except Mockingbird), I'd probably had passed on a remastered comic for $35. I'll take things a bit further and suggest that two $35 dollar comics is a bit much for a single month. I'm sure most people were probably interested in both, but forking out $70 on both was a bit much. That left people with the choice of picking which they wanted. So you want a reimaging of an existing story, or a whole new one? Unless you were invested in seeing the new story panels, the value on the completely new story just had better percieved value. My recommendation is to not have two high priced items listed in the same month, especially if one is a remastered one. It just can't compete. You probably would do better served to have a one high priced item and then a repeat/budget item in the same month. People who are in for the new story stuff can spurge, and those that are waiting for a cheaper option (like a discounted story on it's second time being offered offered, or a shorter story) can get what they want.

Subjectivity

No, it all seems fair. I'm sure free stuff would help spread the word. I'm just not quite as into the antagonist of the Submission Agenda series. I know being small and young are supposed to make heroines underestimate him, but I prefer my dominants to be a bit more imposing, like Darkseid, Baba-Set or King Kumonga. Someone who can dominate physically as well as mentally. That's just me, though.

Hi Pegasus I have been a subscriber to your work for over a year, and I think I can answer some of your questions, without claiming that it is the absolute truth. For free content, I'm not sure this is really a good idea to attract people. It would take a long time for you to separate what should or should not pay. And the quality of your work would be affected I think. But you can still give free content on old projects (6 months or more for example). For the price of Enchantress: Remastered ... I think it's too expensive, because it's a project already seen. In addition, it's in competition with a completely new one. It's weird in the sense that some projects are available two to three months in a row, like Baba-Set. And also, you bait us with a lot of projects, maybe too many ... I am impatiently awaiting all projects, such as the unreleased ones from Submission agenda (Rogue / Mystique, Scarlet Witch Voodoo, Kitty Pride ...), Whores of Darkseid. And we may be waiting for that, before some remastered project. I really can't wait for the Blacked and Game Over Girls sequels personally, even if they're not your main series. I love your job, and I'm glad I picked up some content. But I skip some projects, and I don't think I'm the only one

Totally fair points. I appreciate your honesty and, as always, your support. To be clear, I wouldn’t want to start producing content for the free tier — I’d just post some of the early pages from my other chapters there (before things get explicit). Just a thought. Also thank you, it’s always good to know what people want in terms of series. I know I’ve teased a lot of stuff this year and haven’t had time to get it all out. But I’ll be making some more announcements on that front soon.

Frankly, I think part of the issue is the feeling of imbalance in the choice of which projects get revisited. Like, it's really weird that Game Over Girls is listed in the back catalogue post as a distinct series and is explicitly advertised on your Subscribestar profile, but it only has one finished entry and there haven't been any updates since the preview sketches from nearly a year ago. That's not to say that people are looking for those projects specifically, it's just that deciding to update an already well-trodden territory like Submission Agenda or revive a much older idea like Two Hot Blondes feels arbitrary and disconnected in that context.

Very interesting point. I get where you're coming from. Game Over Girls is definitely intended to be a standalone series, and I fully intend to finish future chapters. I think other stuff has taken precedence due to a number of factors, first and foremost my own inspiration and interests. I tend to have a lot of plates spinning and I can only finish so much work in a given time period (less so more than ever in the past year due to other obligations). If I could work on this art full-time I would have a lot more accomplished, but there simply aren't the hours in the day. And when the inspiration for a story like Enchantress strikes me, I tend to dive headfirst into it and get tunnel-vision with it until it's concluded. There's also the fact that Submission Agenda, while admittedly a "retread," is also some of my most popular work while also being my most unfinished-looking at this point. As an artist it's satisfying to me to be able to go back and "finish" those chapters with a level of polish that I couldn't when I was originally drawing them. There's always a push-and-pull of what content readers want. Some can't wait to see more Game Over Girls, some want more GoT: Blacked content, some want Whores of Darkseid, etc etc. But I don't want to sound defensive, I definitely take your point and will consider it when choosing what projects to devote my time to in the future.

just an opinion, the tiering is a little bit confusing. you have to switch tiers to whatever the latest months deal is and then go back to what you were at previously if you remember. You have a link to what you call archives, you could make better use of this by calling it completed works and keep it updated with all of your finished projects (including the remaster chapters of submission agenda you are working on) making an all inclusive tier in the 10.00 range is affordable and simple for your fan base to follow. waiting for for pages to come out on the main feed is ok but really takes a long time when releasing full chapters. behind the scenes sketch work or single page stand alone projects would capture the attention of casuals subscribers here better. again this is just an opinion, keep up the great work.

To be quite honest, I just can't afford it. I have a few artists that I want to support and 5$ a month is basically the most I can give to each. 30$ and more? I'd probably get a call from my banker asking why I'm periodically losing 200$ a month. There is also the psychological aspect: 30/35$ is 6/7 times what I was already ready to give. That's quite the steep increase, knowing that what I pay each month is just to support you as I know I can find the comics leaked for "free" sometimes even before I get it on patreon.

i won't be the guy who 'll tell you how much you should monnetize your work, but i can't clearly afford 70 or even 35 dollars MONTHLY for a Patreon, that's just impossible. Your art is amazing but those tiers are really really too high.

I follow a lot of creators on Patreon for their free content, but it seems like not very many people do this. Obviously, you already know your unpaid follower count, so it may be different for you.
