 Hey everyone!!!

Finally life has given be a brief moment of calm (and sobriety) to properly update over here!

I have arrived on tuesday as planned - but carnaval is going on and I got sucked in street bloc parties!!! It's still going on, really... it officially ends in ash wednesday (tomorrow) but I already started to try getting back on rhythm.

My plan right now is to make this silly post just to update on how my trip was - and then make a more dedicated post where I share my plans and goals for art as I've had a lot of time to think about things. I also have two commission pieces fresh from the oven that I want to share here!

The main idea of this trip was for my SO to update stock items, so we spent the day over 25 de Março street, which is THE place for anyone that works with fabrics and fashion overall. It was fun but I wasn't able to grab anything in particular from there - I wanted some cute jewelry but didn't find anything in particular.

On the other day I went to the Liberdade street!! According to wikipedia, it is home to the world's largest ethnic Japanese community outside Japan. So... there's a bunch of goods!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! food!!! hobby materials!!!!!

I was honestly looking forward to finding tokusatsu goods, and after a whole day of fine combing the numerous shops (which had mostly anime stuff that is hype nowadays), I was able to find one specific place!!! actually it was a tiny display but... it was fun, seeing all those things I only see through a screen in real life!

...Well it was fun to walk around but unfortunately everything is so expensive and I can't afford stuff at all LOL I only ate a ramen at a traditional shop (which was expensive too but I promised myself I'd grab something cool to eat!) but the whole experience was fun!

Apart from that, we went in São Paulo street carnaval blocs as well.......... Ate some tempura between the heavy drinking LOL and everything was PACKED with people!!! I don't have pics of the sheer number of people but believe me..... the subway system was jammed af too LOL

I was able to experience one of my fav carnaval things though - kissing a bunch of dudes!!!! Guess I catched up after these last 2 years where I was totally out of energy for this kind of stuff sigh.... Happy it happened!!!

Another thing I really wanted to do was visit old book shops!! And unlike all the other lil detours, I actually bought something!!

I got this very interesting book right out from the 80s called Fashion & Color, from Kojiro Kumagai. It has surprisingly good information about color theory, along with things like CYM information for me to study with better accuracy.... Look forward to studying this bad boy....

Kojiro's use of color is very fun and dynamic, and I felt it kinda connected with how I think about color myself.

Another thing I was able to find, and succesfully reconnect with, was a big ass number of Asterix & Obelix comics!!!! While I skimmed through the pages, I felt this strange inclination to study expressions again, so I took some pictures. I plan on researching more into it.... so much energy and fun into them!

I was looking for Hergé comics tbh but I have already studied lots of the main point of what I like on his art - the head structure, body shapes and overal costume design. Wasn't able to find any The Adventures of Tintin comics tho!!!

Then when I arrived home again there was more carnaval stuff so........ my recent pics are all messed up LOL

Hope everyone also had a great week! Now to write the next update!
