Time for our monthly pinup!!!

This month has been pretty hectic, how is december faring for you? Along with the numerous tasks I've been busy with this month and my adaptation to new meds, I finally found time to work in this pin-up!!!

I'll have to post this one over my main channel as early as tomorrow, december is unique in the aspect that if I do a christmas themed composition, it has to be posted before christmas right!! Gosh december is always wild!!

 Let's go into it!! YESH!

> I had a composition in my head: Hudson is breaking free from his stone sleep just to find out someone placed decoration on him overnight, and he's just confused with the purpose of this electric light chain restraining him in his awakening.

> As I laid the very basic sketch, I gave it a bit more of a structure, trying to mind how his anatomy was going to work here. He's stout and grumpy, ain't that cute!

> After laying down the overall structure, I polished it more with more accurate details and a more focused anatomy pass. When working with fat bodies, making the skins folds is very important! Otherwise the character will look like a balloon.

> You guys know I love to work the head separately. It has a very fun structure, with his
distinguished horns, cute ":3" mouth and big ears. It was refreshing to tackle a different species head!

> Wanted to show his body, so I wanted to play with the cables getting tangled and stretching his clothes around. The cables drape over him and follow gravity, giving the scene somewhat of a flow.

>The final sketch looks like that! I always find important to draw the body before laying down the clothes. It makes you think in how you can be playful with volume and gesture, beside giving a greater sense of cohesion!

>  I did the linear for Hudson first. I've been kinda unhappy with my art lately, but I admit I was satisfied with this lineart! Note that I added more stone pieces falling down, I really wanted to bring that cool element of breaking off from the stone sleep from the series.

> Background!!! Drawing stone and earthy materials is always fun.

> Felt the tower he was above needed to come closer to the foreground, compared to the two other ones more far in the background.

>Color sketch!!!! Hudson has a cute orange leaning palette. The scene of goliath breaking free from the stone sleep in a moonlit night is a very iconic part of the original opening, so I decided to work with the strong orangeish moon, contrasting with a deep blue sky.

> Flats!! These were way less painful than usual.  I had to be mindful of the colors because Hudson's skin color is already very greyish, and I wanted to set it apart from the stone concealed skin.

>Working the background first. Here I was laying down the shadows on the stone wall.

> Now proper rendering! Wanted a dramatic night sky. Note how I pushed the stone wall far in the background further away with the use of shadows. They are your best friend when rendering space!

> Primary shadows for hudson!

> Now the secondary shadows.

> Here's the properly rendered character. Now I needed to render the christmas lights! I also added some dust clouds and particles to emphasize the stone skin breaking off.

> Here was my first pass with the christmas lights!! These are long and kinda big and I felt they were distracting. So I redid them as you can see in the final picture - I opted for small gentle circles, which look better I think!

And that concludes our monthly pin-up post. I'll be opening the voting for the next character on the 1st! (((:

Another amazing job. Super cute! Great idea with the stone sleep and the holiday lights, it’s something they definitely could have done in the show
