 Hey everyone!!! As promised I have compiled some work I've been doing with patterns this month.

 I have experimented in the past with messy, fun patterns - which I consider a strength of mine! What I wanted to experiment this time is geometric patterns. Honestly they are quite hard!!! You have to be mindful of structure otherwise it looks off very easily. You can also notice they have a fancy energy surrounding them, which is kinda contrasting with my usual silly and fun themes!

 I also wanted to play with two things I like to render - metallic surfaces and precious gemstones. Not that I'm particularly good at rendering those, but this was the perfect context for working these out right!

  This pink one has colored metal, which I looove. It brings fire emblem armors in mind somehow, I just love unusual colored metal.

 The structure for this one was a diamond shape! I did the ornate frame first, then slapped a fat gem on the middle with lots of contrast.

Following the experimentation with a main shape for the structure, I went in the next one with an ogee! I somehow used a very similar color scheme of the previous one, but that's because I was so focused on working with a lotus..... that when I noticed they had similar colors! Just me being dumb.

 Note how the ornament echoes the structural lines of the shape I chose to work - whenever you do that, it brings a feeling of flow and beauty to your composition. This one has kind of an indian aesthetic to it somehow, but it wasn't on purpose!

 I added some droplets flying on the first plane on the final one because it was sooo geometric that I wanted to make it feel more organic!

Also did this one... lots of stars and gold, very self indulgent. I did seek and study portuguese azulejos for inspiration - I wanted to study these because at the same time they have a geometry element to it, I can add lots of flourish and fun elements! I enjoyed making this one and perhaps this approach will be the one I'll have when designing more geometric patterns in the future.

 These are the repeating elements. It brings mahou shoujo to mind, doesn't it? I just can't help it.

 A more olive version is pretty cute too!

Oof! These patterns were cool new tests for me. Whenever I do patterns I do tend to prefer seamless chaotic fun though!

 I did a pattern for a friend while I was studying for these, and she made a product with it through redbubble! It was such a nice surprise, I was very happy about it.... Now I'm more sure the patterns will look neat on a product!

 I'm planning on doing a version of this one with a generic gorilla!

 I bet it will look cute, won't it? She also ordered a tote bag but the results were rather.... unflattering, let's say.

 Yikes! Raw cotton really is a detail killer... I'll try not making products with it. My main idea is notebooks and other more artificial surfaces so my guess is that it works better for those.

 Next iteration of this series will be more on scrambly patterns! I really look forward to sharing it with you all! ((:

Thanks for the feedback Adrian!! I was afraid they wouldn't look marketable so it's reassuring you think so (((:

There's something about deep blue and gold together that makes a very royal color chord, don't you agree! Really appreciate that alex, I think that one is my favorite ;v;
