This month the winner of our holiday themed painting was for me to design the Ghost of Christmas Past, Present and Yet to Come as cute anime girls! This was a challenge for two reasons - it was a 3 character painting and I had to design all three of them! I will explain the idea behind each of them as I was designing them.

According to Dickens' novella, the Ghost of Christmas Past appears to Scrooge as a white-robed, androgynous figure of indeterminate age. A blinding beam of light radiates from its head and it carries a cap like a candle extinguisher, which it tells Scrooge that his own passions made and forced the ghost to wear.

While I took some liberties here, I definitely wanted to incorporate the idea of light, and used the candle cap as an excuse to give their hair a melted-wax like consistency, and by extension most of their body.

The Ghost of Christmas Present is described as open and cheerful - in actions and appearance. Its dark brown curls were long and free; free as its genial face, its sparkling eye, its open hand, its cheery voice, its unconstrained demeanour, and its joyful air.

My favorite rendition of this spirit is in The Muppet Christmas Carol, where he is seen as a large, happy man. So what better excuse than to put all that largeness right into the chest, as a brown-haired cutesy spirit with ara-ara energy? I made sure her expression matched the joy that the spirit is supposed to represent, and the green-themed outfit the spirit wore in the movie.

Dickens shows a 'solemn' and spooky spirit in the Ghost of Christmas Yet to Come. The ghost fills Scrooge with terror. Scrooge feared the silent shape so much that his legs trembled beneath him, and he found that he could hardly stand when he prepared to follow it. The presence of this ghost makes Scrooge afraid.

Ok, so my rendition of this spirit is not really terrifying in any way, as it would clash with the "cute anime girl" theme we were going for here - but I did try to at least incorporate the shapes, colors and themes that are usually present with this rendition of the spirit. A more menacing kind of cute, the "grim reaper"-esque ties that are usually seen, with some sharp teeth, red eyes. Let's just say she's trying her best.

Wasn't really much room for alts here, but I wanted to at leas throw in a topless alt, complete with matching expressions. Enjoy, and please remember these high-quality, watermark-free paintings are given only to my patrons as a thanks for your support, so please keep that in mind if you choose to save a copy for yourself!

Still working hard on this month's NSFW bundle, so look out for that after Thanksgiving. And if you are in the states, Happy Thanksgiving!
