I think we've posted one of these before and I have no idea if this is interesting to anyone else but we often make references to tons of other movies and TV shows in our discussions, so I always have a folder in my project that contains all of those that I want to show clips from. Here's what's in the folder for the upcoming BIll and Ted re:View. Most of them probably make sense if you're familiar with the B&T movies.

What's a star trek?

Looking forward to it! Will we be getting 2 different videos or will Bogus Journey be mentioned in the first?

Anonymous

Yet to see B&T since the originals are being rereleased in my theatre so waiting for that... love to see Quigley and The Seventh Seal in the same list as they should be

I love these edit pics. The botw timeline pic was great too. Seeing how professionals operate is an awesome learning tool.

I dig it. From watching you guys, and makers like Cinemassacre, I’ve learned about editing and the work entailed. It’s fuckin’ fascinating! Really made me appreciate film and the process of editing and the magic and art of editing. Plus it made appreciate clips in videos more so. And it looks like a GIANT PAIN IN THE ASS.😜

This is cool! Could I ask, do you guys digitize the movies you watch on best of the worst? I figure as much but I’ve always wondered that for some reason.

Matthew Chambers

You're inspiring me to be better organized.

Jay, is this pre-editing the discussion or post?

Marvin Falz

Yes, you've posted a picture of the editing timeline for a BotW some months ago. Always interesting to get glimpses into your editing work.

I love it! Wouldn’t be complete without the obligatory Star Trek reference.

I do this with art file names especially for video game jobs!

It's always interesting to see how the sausage is made.

Quigley?! Does that mean that Gary Busey is a time-traveler??

Anonymous

I really enjoy seeing your editing process. I mailed some donation movies to you guys yesterday!!

Anonymous

Of course there's a Voyager clip.

Anonymous

I’ve been trying to relearn how to edit so this is actually a very helpful idea, thanks! Excited for this B&T video and how the Eraserhead clip fits in

One of the things I love about B&T (besides the innate fun factor), being that it’s one of the earliest films I can remember that made cultural references outside its storyworld. Like Bill’s Star Wars mocking/loving reference. Movies didn’t to that in those days.

I’d also like to point out my kids (girls) love these movies and are anticipating the third one. (They think Death is hilarious 😂)

Awesome, Jay!

Mah-Dry-Bread

As someone who also does video editing as part of their job, I always find it fascinating to see peaks at other people's editing habits. I'd love to see more stuff like this!

Anonymous

I don't see "The Air Up There" with Kevin Bacon.

Anonymous

The only way my video editor brain could be happier is seeing those in alphabetical order. Still... *chef kisses

“Reminds me of that episode of Star Trek voyager”

Shout out to QUIGLEY!

Neil Peart, Lord of Drums

Hell yeah this is interesting! It also reminds me why you're the only Patreon I donate to: because you guys put an insane amount of work into your videos.

I feel like Eraserhead is probably in the que of a lot of Jay edits. Lol.

No Ishtar?

You may have gone too far in some places

This is good, nice to see what it takes to produce gold.

Rhea

They mostly are, aside from that chunk in the middle

Rhea

I'd watch an editing time lapse from import to final render by you or Mike and call it quality entertainment.

Yep, getting to see stuff like this and the BOTW editing timeline snap shot are some of the neatest benefits of being a patron.

Anonymous

So do they just play the bluray on a computer and save the section they want, or are these clips on some sort of online database?

Anonymous

Definitely as a filmmaker.and editor I totally find this interesting. As a Bill &Ted fan, I'm wicked stoked for the upcoming discussion

Jessie Zimmer

I would love to see how long it takes to edit a Re:V or HitB. I would ask for BotW but I think that might be a request too far. Time-lapse is a great idea!

Jessie Zimmer

I love when y'all post this kind of stuff. It's the reason I joined Patreon. The video of Rich building the new BotW table (with commentary from Jack) genuinely makes me smile, even on rewatch. I'd love to pick your brains about editing and production some day. Thanks for all the work you put in, just to entertain strangers.

i dig this kinda thing. i’d also enjoy mike talking thru his edit process, director’s commentary-style. as an editor myself, i rarely get to see how other people work.
