**MASK-WEARING HEADPHONE WARNINGS**

This episode takes an IMMEDIATE dive into some creepy and grisly deaths that connect not only to the concept of our identity and how we "present" ourselves, but also to some very modern concepts that were pretty revolutionary for the time this came out!

Oh, and Shogo is pretty freaky as an underground antagonist and has some "friends in low places" that I'm pretty freaked out about!

Loved the reaction+discussion! Watching someone start to fall in love with all these darlings is such a delight. =) I particularly like the visual world-building of these first episodes: beautiful art and backgrounds, environments full of small world-details presented without focusing on them. This specific episode does a great job of contrasting the spectrum of their 'realities': the fully virtual chatrooms, the augmented reality of the 'masquerade' and a place like the factory in the first half. Looking forward to next week!

For my comment with last week's episode about Akane sitting around her apartment in the nude I meant it as it shows that in the privacy of her own home her personality is more relaxed and less strait-laced in comparison to the way she is when at work. Also I automatically assume that someone sitting around in the nude shows they're very comfortable with and in their body. Makishima we get a long discussion on basically how no matter how much you try to perfect a strategy beforehand it can all go out the window when faced with the real thing, and then immediate scene change to a very required viewing of Kougami working out shirtless...🤣 Though by doing that it definitely makes it seem like Makishima could be more of a brains character, whilst Kougami could be more of a brawn character. Definite Rei flashbacks on the lack of appropriate work-out attire though 🤣 Yay for the getting the OP this episode! 🥳 Honestly this OP remains high up on my list of favourite anime/donghua Openings. Such Mulder and Scully vibes with this Opening for Kougami and Akane 🥰 I love the way this anime shows the Investigators/Enforcers putting human lives over profit, whilst the company/government are all about profit over human lives. And not only with the three incidents, but also with how the work being done is shift work that requires said workers to live at the factory and be totally isolated from society. Says a lot that Kougami, an Enforcer that's considered to be no better than a dog by some, is a kinder human being than the workers and the chief of the drone factory. Love that he called the chief out by saying if the System decided that Kanehara was suited to that place, then it also decided the chief was a horrible enough human being to be in charge of such a situation. Seeing Ginoza flip out the way he did made me a lot more intrigued about his character and what we don't know yet. Same with the almost soft way Kougami spoke with him and calling him Gino 🥰 I don't ship them, but it definitely perks your interest into learning more about their shared background. Akane really showing her naïvety this episode with the idea that killing someone for some people could act like a stress reliever (the same way as the bullying) in such a pressure cooker-type environment. Same with her questioning Kougami on if he's just going to talk with Kanehara. It isn't bad to be naïve, but I do think it could make it harder for her as an Inspector. It also shows that she hasn't experienced anything that's caused her to lose such a mentality. Poor Akane has heels and basically a pencil skirt. She cannot run like Kougami can! Also we haven't seen if she has an intense fitness regime like Kougami, so how's she meant to keep up?! Koyasu's voice is perfect for how theatrical Talisman is shown to be. But it does make me laugh that he's basically a virtual Agony Aunt in this anime 😂 I like Masaoka's way of teaching/guiding Akane. He doesn't tell her what to do. He just lays bare the facts and what each path she could take could mean for her. It's left to Akane to make the choice on what to do, and to make her own mistakes in life. Psycho-Pass introducing the idea of Influencers several years before such a job got big in reality. Also his records showing him as being unemployed but still having money and having such a large virtual following is very like how some in society today view that being an Influencer is not a 'real' job. The holo-cosplay would make cosplaying way easier! But I'd miss the fun of styling wigs and putting together the outfit. Welcome to the gritty world of Psycho-Pass where one of our main characters just calmly talks about the murdering, dismembering and disposal of a body...And where they use tomatoes in a blender as a substitute for the gory dismemberment of Sugawara. Kougami's right up my street too! He's got those kind vibes but also has some darker aspects to his character that makes him more intriguing to me. I honestly blame Disney for my appreciation of morally grey characters (or even downright villains) 😅 Reading Mo Xiang Tong Xiu's works I feel enables you to be a lot more patient when given crumbs of information, or are made aware that there is some kind of an untold story but then you aren't given a single detail about it. Akane though has way more patience than me at not getting answers from Kagari and Kunizuka regarding Ginoza's issues with Masaoka. A few new seiyuu this episode but there are only three that you've seen something else they've voiced a character in. Koyasu Takehito is Talisman's seiyuu, and has also voiced SK8's Shindou Ainosuke; Shingeki no Kyojin's Zeke; Jujutsu Kaisen's Toji; Assassination Classroom's Gastro; Pesche from Bleach; Nikolai Gogol from Bungou Stray Dogs; Code Geass' Andrea Farnese; Evangelion's Aoba; Coach Sanada from Kuroko no Basuke; Lucal Weskar from Seraph of the End; Kido Asato from Yuu Yuu Hakusho; and Claudia from Violet Evergarden. Kanehara (the murderer in Episode 3) is voiced by Tsuruoka Satoshi. He's also voiced Mob Psycho's Muraki, and Gano from Vanitas. The third voice actor is Mizushima Takahiro and he voices Mido. He's also the seiyuu for Cheol-ran from Yona; Takebayashi from Assassination Classroom; and Rolo Lamperouge from Code Geass.

Yes, that makes a lot of sense about the nudity and comfortable-ness she feels! Ahhh, I like that transition of brains and brawn, though Kogami seems like they’re pretty smart on the crime scene! MULDER AND SCULLY – Thank you – they are reminding me of Kogami and Akane for sure! I do think the show is already making some interesting statements about people vs. corporations vs. how we view others and labels, etc. And YES, I really want to know more about Ginoza! SO intrigued!! There’s definitely some history with him and Kogami – and – if Kogami is our Bisexual King of the series? I’ll TAKE IT. Akane definitely is the “new” cop and it shows this episode, and especially in comparison with Gino, Matsaoka, and Kogami. And I LOVE Matsaoka’s way of “teaching” her! Man…Koyasu is quite type-cast now, isn’t he? I was thinking of BSD’s Nikolai, Adam, and Zeke the whole time. It’s so weird to see how this series touches on things that are pretty major now, isn’t it? But honestly, the holo-cosplay would be nice to do some elaborate wigs! Especially if they were cheaper? Like you said, there’s some give and take for sure, though. Oh. Well. Good to know this series is not afraid to Go there with the gore. Neat. Let’s blame Disney and 80’s movies for liking bad boys and darker, morally gray fictional characters. Woot. I also will hold MXTX as helping me to feel more patient with bread crumbs of info, though in COMPARISON, this series is giving us literal SLICES it feels like compared, hahaha! The VA cast is pretty impressive throughout, isn’t it? Thank you for the kind words and comment!
